PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing oily slurry of an inorganic filler, which can efficiently disperse an inorganic filler. SOLUTION: The method for producing the oily slurry of the inorganic filler includes the steps of: (a) surface-treating aqueous slurry of the inorganic filler with unsaturated fatty acid soap; and (b) dispersing the aqueous slurry of the inorganic filler, surface-treated in the step (a), in oil. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a magnesium hydroxide-based flame retardant which, when added in a resin, can improve the mechanical characteristics, water resistance and acid resistance of a resin composition thereof, and the resin composition containing the flame retardant. SOLUTION: The magnesium hydroxide-based flame retardant contains magnesium hydroxide surface-treated with an aqueous (poly)carbodiimide. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a flame retardant resin composition comprising a thermoplastic resin having hydrolyzable linkages in repeating units and magnesium hydroxide and suppressed in hydrolysis of the thermoplastic resin and resulting reduction in the molecular weight 3rd physical properties and the generation of foaming phenomena which are feared during heat processing thereof. SOLUTION: This flame retardant resin composition comprises (1) the thermoplastic resin having the hydrolyzable linkages in the repeating units and (2) magnesium hydroxide which is surface-treated with a water soluble cationic polymer.
