Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for easily obtaining artificially cultivated mushroom having high vitamin D content.
SOLUTION: A method for increasing vitamin D content of mushroom includes forming primordia through giving mushroom hypha stimulation, and continuing to irradiate visible light of an illumination intensity of 300-900 lux, preferably 400-800 lux until harvest of carpophores after primordium formation. The stimulation for forming primordia may be irradiation with visible light of an illumination intensity of 300-900 lux. The wavelength of visible light is 400-780 nm. The method is suitable especially for mushroom belonging to basidiomycete Homobasidiomycetes.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a Grifola gargal's mycelium cultured product ameliorating immunoactivity, cholesterol value, particularly arteriosclerosis index. SOLUTION: The Grifola gargal's mycelium cultured product is such as to be obtained by culturing Grifola gargal's mycelia followed by drying and then grinding the resulting product. Specifically, this product is obtained by culturing Grifola gargal's mycelia under air dispersion or ventilation, evaporating most of moisture from the resulting product at 40-50°C for about 24 h and then drying the product at 60-80°C for about one hour. This Grifola gargal's mycelium cultured product has carcinostatic activity or immunoactivity, and blood cholesterol level-lowering activity or arteriosclerosis index-lowering activity. Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To artificially cultivate Grifola gargal that naturally grows in Chile and Argentina in South America, has peculiar fragrance and has been locally relished, thereby supplying the plant in large quantities as a food material. SOLUTION: A method for artificially cultivating Grifola gargal comprises: the first step of inoculating a medium with Grifola gargal's spawns and culturing them into mycelia; the second step of subjecting the mycelia to light irradiation and/or low-temperature stimulation at the stage of suddenly decreasing in the benzaldehyde content of the mycelia to form anlagen; and the third step of culturing the anlagen to form Grifola gargal's carpophore; and preferably, the fourth step of continuing the culture for 20-50 h in such a condition that the carbon dioxide concentration and humidity in the culturing ambience are raised. The Grifola gargal thus cultivated has ITS-1(internal transcribed spacer-1) described in the Sequence table 1 and ITS-2 described in the Sequence table 2, has ITS-1 described in the Sequence table 3 and ITS-2 described in the Sequence table 4, has ITS-1 described in the Sequence table 5 and ITS-2 described in the Sequence table 6, or emits benzaldehyde-based fragrance.
