    摘要: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a fuel additive composition which effectively prevents and reduces the formation of deposits in an engine by combining an aromatic ester compound of a polyalkylphenoxyalkanol with an aliphatic hydrocarbon- substituted amine which has a basic nitrogen atom and in which the hydrocarbon group has a specified number-average molecular weight. SOLUTION: This composition comprises an aromatic ester compound represented by formula I or a fuel-soluble salt thereof and an aliphatic hydrocarbon-substituted amine, desirably a branched-hydrocarbon-substituted amine, more desirably, polyisobutyl- or polyisobutenyl-amine which has at least one basic nitrogen atom and in which the hydrocarbon group has a number- average molecular weight of about 400 to about 1,000. In the formula, R is OH, NO2, -(CH2)xNR5R6; R5 and R6 are each H or a 1-6C alkyl; x is 0 or 1; R1 is H, OH, NO2, or-NR7R8; R7 and R8 are each R5; R2 and R3 are each R5; and R4 is a polyalkyl having an average molecular weight of about 450 to 5,000. It is desirable that the composition is used in a concentration of about 25 to 5,000 ppm based on a hydrocarbon fuel.

The substd. biphenyl polyalkylether in a hydrocarbon fuel has a concn. ranging from about 50 to about 2,500 ppm by wt.

SOLUTION: This new compound is a compound of formula I (A is a nitrogen-contg. ring such as 3-pyridyl, 4-pyridyl or 3-piperidyl; R1 and R2 are each H or a 1-6C alkyl, being selected independently in the case of a plurality of O-CHR1-CHR2 groups; R3 is H, a 1-100C alkyl, phenyl, a 7-100C aralkyl or the like; x is 0-4; n is about 5 to about 100) or a fuel-soluble salt thereof, e.g. a compound of formula II. This compound of formula I is obtained by deprotonation of a pyridyl compound of formula III through such a process as to catalyze the compound of formula III in a solvent such as toluene under an anhydrous condition in the presence of an appropriate base such as sodium hydride at-10 to about 120 deg.C for about 0.25 to about 3 h to form the corresponding metal salt, which, in turn is reacted with a compound of formula IV.

SOLUTION: A compound of formula I [R1 is a polyalkyl having an average mol.wt. of about 500 to 5,000; R2 is an about 2 to 6C alkylene; R3 is H or CH3; (x) is about 0 to 4], for example, a compound of formula II. The compound of formula I can be produced, for example, by a method comprising reacting (A) a polyalkenylsuccinic acid anhydride of formula III R4 is a polyalkenyl [derived from a polyolefin which is the (co)polymer of a mono-olefin, especially a 1-mono-olefin, such as ethylene, propylene or butylene]} with (B) (i) ammonia, (ii) ammonium hydroxide, (iii) methylamine or (iv) a polyamine, preferably ethylene diamine, at about 80 to 200 deg.C, and then reducing the obtained polyalkenylsuccinimde of formula IV.

SOLUTION: A compound of formula I or its fuel-soluble salt of 50-2,500 ppm is added to a hydrocarbon having a boiling point in the range of that of a gasoline or a diesel fuel. In formula I, R is a polyalkyl or a polyalkenyl of an average molecular weight of 450-5,000; (n) is 2-5; Z is pyridyl, piperidyl, or the like; R1 is hydroxy, nitro, cyano or (CH2)x-NR3R4; R3 and R4 are each H or a 1-6C lower alkyl; (x) is 0 or 1; R2 is H, hydroxy, nitro, cyano or (CH2)y- NR5R6; R5 and R6 are each H or a 1-6C lower alkyl; and (y) is 0 or 1. 10-70 wt.%, preferably 10-60 wt.%, of the compound of formula I is added to an inert and stable lipophilic organic solvent having a boiling point of 65-205 deg.C optionally together with an oxygenation agent, an antiknock agent, other additives such as a dispersant, a cleaning agent or the like.

    摘要: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain pyridyl and piperidyl esters of polyalkylphenoxyalkanol capable of effectively inhibiting engine deposit (esp. inlet valve deposit) by utilizing it as a fuel additive to a fuel composition. SOLUTION: The pyridtyl and piperidyl esters of polyalkylphenoxyalkanol are compounds expressed by formula I (A is 3-pyridyl, 4-pyridyl, 3-piperidyl or 4-piperidyl and is pref. 4-pyridyl or 4-piperidyl; R1 is a polyalkyl group having ca. 450-5,000 average molecular weight; and R2 and R3 are each H or a 1-6C lower alkyl) or their salts soluble in fuel. The compound pref. has ca. 700-3,500 molecular weight so as to become nonvolatile at the ordinary engine inlet valve operating temperature (ca. 200-250 deg.C). The compound of formula I is obtained e.g. by subjecting a polyalkylphenol of formula II to hydroxyalkylation with an alkylenecabonate of formula III in the presence of an alkali metal hydride or the like as a catalyst and then by reacting the reaction product with pyridylcarboxylic acid.
