Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a milling method for automatic machining of a cuboid workpiece, which can be automated and can machine six side faces or all side faces of the workpiece very high accuracy. SOLUTION: A cuboid blank material with marginal dimensions in each of six side faces is fixed by two opposing side faces by using two opposing fixing devices 6, 7 movable to the axis 8 of motion. Any fixing force is not added to a workpiece 16 in the direction of the axis of motion, but the fixing force is added by two fixing devices in the lateral direction with respect to the axis of motion. Machining of at least two out of four exposed side faces of the workpiece is completed, and the workpiece is unfixed from the fixing devices. The workpiece is fixed by the fixing devices with two machined side faces, and machining of non-machined side faces is completed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
