Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing onium tetrakis(acyloxy)borate stably and efficiently that can be applied to commercial production. SOLUTION: A tetrakis(acyloxy)borate of an alkali metal is reacted with an onium salt in the presence of an alkali hydroxide to produce the onium tetrakis(acyloxy)borate. In an embodiment, a solution of a tetrakis(acyloxy)borate of an alkali metal and an alkali hydroxide dissolved in a nonprotonic polar solvent is reacted with a solution of an onium salt dissolved in an alcohol to produce the tetrakis(acyloxy)borate.
