    Abstract: Data communications can be accomplished at the required speed while reducing the power consumption by wireless terminals. A wireless communication system (1) constitutes an electronic inventory system using an administration server (2), relay devices (3), and wireless terminals (5). The administration server (2) groups the wireless terminals according to the value of the remainder resulting from dividing a unique number possessed by each wireless terminal (5) by the total number of groups defined by the administration server (2). Furthermore, the administration server (2) can dynamically manage the total number of the groups and set the optimum total number of the groups according to the usage conditions and functions of the wireless communication system (1), thus facilitating dynamic decentralized administration of the number of the wireless terminals (5) participating in the groups. In the event that the wireless terminals (5) begin transmission all at once, the total number of groups can be set to a high value, and then operation can proceed by decreasing the total number of the groups as the number of the terminals handled per basic frame decreases over time.
