    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pedestrian detection device which can improve the detection accuracy of a pedestrian in the night or the like. SOLUTION: The pedestrian detection device is provided with an infrared radiation emitting portion 14 emitting infrared radiation, and an infrared radiation camera 16 photographing images of an infrared radiation image. A controller 12 extracts a candidate of a retina reflection point of a pedestrian based on the infrared radiation image photographed by the infrared radiation camera 16, and determines whether or not a pedestrian exists in the infrared radiation image based on a position of the candidate of the extracted retina reflection point.     Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a pedestrian riding on a hood 7 at a front of a vehicle from moving to the front of the hood 7 accompanying with braking of the vehicle and dropping on a road face from the hood 7, when the traveling vehicle collides with the pedestrian as a collided body. SOLUTION: This device is equipped with a position detecting sensor 5 for measuring a distance to the position detecting sensor 5 from a pedestrian entering onto the hood 7 due to collision with the vehicle, and an ECU 2 detects whether the pedestrian moves in a forward direction of the hood 7 by an inertia generated at the time of braking the vehicle based on position detecting signals detected by the position detecting sensor 5. When the ECU 2 detects the movement of the pedestrian in the forward direction of the hood 7, braking force indication signals are given to a braking force controlling device 3 to reduce the braking force of the vehicle and the braking force of the vehicle is reduced, so as to prevent the pedestrian on the hood 7 from moving in the forward direction of the hood 7.
