Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem wherein the protective function for an occupant in a rear seat is hardly degraded even when the positional relationship of a front seat to the occupant in the rear seat is changed. SOLUTION: In an airbag device for a rear seat, a controller 37 estimates a spacing between a back rest part of a front seat and knees of an occupant in the rear seat based on detected information by a front seat position sensor 32, a front seat collapse angle sensor 33 or the like. The controller 37 operates only a first inflator 15a when the estimated spacing is less than a predetermined value, and operates the first and second inflators 15a and 15b if the spacing is not less than the predetermined value. An airbag is developed and inflated thin by maintaining an overlapping part without breaking a tear seam part provided on an overlapping part of a tether when gas is supplied only from the first inflator 15a. The airbag is developed and inflated thick by breaking the tear seam part and developing the overlapping part when gas is supplied from the first and second inflators 15a and 15b. A support guide 24 to support a front face 23a of the lower inflation part 23 is provided on a lower side of the case 13 between the seat part 12 and the floor F. Therefore, even if the crew seated on the rear seat is rearwardly and upwardly moved along a backrest by an impact of the collision accident of the vehicle, the movement is prevented by the air bag 21. Then, when a collision sensor detects the collision, the airbag 31 is inflated and expanded at the predetermined position by actuation of an inflator 32. When the collision sensor does not detects the collision, the airbag 31 that has not been inflated and expanded is returned to its original position by actuation of the moving motor 37.
