摘要: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toner having a sharp particle size distribution and capable of easily undergoing shape control by adding a flocculant, an org. solvent that dissolves infinitely in water and a fluorine-contg. compd. to an aq. dispersion, carrying out fusion by heating at a temp. above the glass transition temp. of binder particles in the dispersion, washing and drying the resultant product. SOLUTION: A flocculant, an org. solvent that dissolves infinitely in water and a fluorine-contg. compd. are added to an aq. dispersion contg. a colorant and fine binder particles, fusion is carried out by heating at a temp. above the glass transition temp. of the binder particles and the resultant product is washed and dried to obtain the objective toner. In an image forming method using the toner, optical information from an original is converted into electrical signals in an image reading part 25 and the signals are inputted in an image writing part 30 after image processing. The surface of an electrified photosensitive drum 10 is irradiated with a laser beam from the image writing part 30 to form a latent image on the drum 10. The latent image on the drum 10 is developed with one of developing devices 40A-40D to form a toner image on the drum 10.

摘要: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a producing method of an electrostatic latent image developing toner, a developer containing the electrostatic latent image developing toner, and an image forming method using this electrostatic latent image developing toner, so that the electrification property of the toner is not influenced by environmental changes but the toner shows stable electrification property, that increase in fogging or decrease in the image density is not caused when images are repeatedly formed even under conditions of high temp. and high humidity or low temp. and low humidity, and that a high-density sharp images can be stably obtd. SOLUTION: In the production of the electrostatic latent image developing toner containing source polymer particles and a charge controlling agent, the charge controlling agent and the source polymer particles are mixed in a solvent which dissolves the charge controlling agent but does not dissolve the source polymer particles to prepare a polymer dispersion liquid. Then a solvent to precipitate the charge controlling agent is added to the polymer dispersion liquid to deposit the charge controlling agent on the polymer particles in the polymer dispersion liquid. The toner has 5 to 100 m /g BET specific surface area.

摘要: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for producing polymer particles having a chargeability which is independent of the environmental conditions, not by the conventional method of adding a charge regulator but by the so-called polymer toner production method such as emulsion polymn. or suspension polymn. wherein a toner having a charge-regulation group on the surface thereof and also having a stable charging characteristics is used, a toner for developing an electrostatic latent image, and a method for forming images. SOLUTION: Polymer particles are produced by associating two or more fine particles of a polymer emulsion dispersed in water. In the association, an organic solvent which is unlimitedly soluble in water and in which the fine polymer particles are insoluble is added and the association temp. is rapidly elevated from room temperature to a temperature 1 to 30 deg.C lower than the boiling point of the mixed solvent comprising the organic solvent and water and then elevated to near the boiling point of the mixed solvent at a rate lower than that in the preceding step.

摘要: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obviate the occurrence of weakly electrostatically charged toners in the case the toners are formed to a smaller grain size, to lessen the occurrence of the excessively electrostatically charged toners and to obtain stable electrostatic charge performance by incorporating carbon black subjected to a surface treatment with a metal org. compd. into the toners and specifying the BET specific surface area thereof. SOLUTION: The carbon black subjected to the surface treatment with the metal org. compd. is incorporated into the toners and the BET specific surface area is specified to >=5m /g. In such a case, the metal ord. compd. includes an aluminum based coupling agent, titanium based coupling agent, silicon based coupling agent, zirconium based coupling agent, etc. The surface treatment of the carbon black includes a dry process method of putting the carbon black into a mixer, etc., and adding the metal org. compd. thereto, a wet process method of mixing both in an org. bath agent and treating the mixture. The treatment is executed at a treating temp. of room temp. or under heating.

摘要: PURPOSE:To obtain a particle having sufficient dispersion stability by surface processing a pigment with an inorganic fine particle. CONSTITUTION:Silica, titanium, alumina fine particle or the like is used as the inorganic fine particle used for surface-processing the pigment. The quantity of the inorganic fine particle to be added is preferably 0.01-20 pts.wt. and further preferably 1-15 pts.wt. per the weight of the pigment particle. The pigment is surface-processed with the inorganic fine particle by feeding a prescribed quantity of the pigment and the inorganic fine particle in a mixer and stirring to mix for a prescribed time. As the mixer, Henschel mixer, a V-shaped mixer, a tubular mixer and the like are exemplified. In this case, when the pigment is dispersed in water phase by using as it is, a quantity of energy is necessary for dispersing the pigment into a prescribed particle diameter because of the low dispersibility and therefore, the pigment is surface- processed to improve dispersibility and polymerization stability of the pigment. That is, the dispersibility of the pigment having the low dispersibility to water system is improved by surface processing the pigment with the hydrophilic or hydrophobic inorganic fine particle.

In this developer, the org. fine particles have 0.01-5.0mum volume average particle size and are produced by polymerizing hydrophilic monomers with using silicone rubber latex as the nuclear particles.
