PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new antibacterial agent, i.e., a compound having an excellent anti-bacterial activity against the wide varieties of pathogenic bacteria such as drug resistant bacteria, vegetable pathogenic bacteria, etc., or having an enzyme inhibitory activity against the enzyme which the bacteria have, by inhibiting the two component-controlling system of bacteria, a method for producing the same, a microorganism which is a producing bacterium of the compound, and a compound-containing composition, an anti-bacterial agent and an enzyme activity inhibitor by utilizing the compound.SOLUTION: This compound having a specific anthraquinone back bone is provided. The method for producing the same is provided by comprising a step of culturing the microorganism belonging to the genus Streptomyces and having a function of producing the compound and a collection step of collecting the compound from the cultured material obtained from the culturing step.

SOLUTION: There are disclosed a Zingiber zerumbet Smith-originated cytochrome P450 gene encoding a polypeptide with activity of converting α-humulene into 8-hydroxy-α-humulene, and a Zingiber zerumbet Smith-originated dehydrogenase gene encoding a polypeptide with the activity of converting the 8-hydroxy-α-humulene into zerumbone. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify a screening method using a gene transcription regulation system and based on the mechanism of a two-component singnaling system of bacteria and to provide an imidazole compound useful as an antibacterial agent against bacteria which have resistance to conventional antibiotics. SOLUTION: The simple screening method for a compound which inhibits the dimerization of histidinekinase in a two-component signaling system of a bacteria comprises adding a candidate to Escherichia coli transformed by a vector which is a gene transcription regulation system having an iclR promoter and an IclR represser, wherein the homodimer formation domain of the represser is substituted by the homodimer formation domain of histidinekinase, and the promoter has a base sequence having a linked GFP (green fluorescent protein) coding base sequence downstream thereof, culturing the bacteria, and measuring the fluorescent intensity. 1-Dodecyl-2-isopropylimidazole which is an antibacterial agent obtained by screening by the method is also provided.
