PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of maintaining a positional relationship constant between detection means and a detection position of a belt member irrespective of contact/separation operation, even in a configuration in which a positional relationship is changed between holding members of a tension member on the upstream side of the detection position and a tension member on the downstream side of the detection position and a part of the belt member including the detection position, depending on the contact/separation operation.SOLUTION: A copier has a photoreceptor, an intermediate transfer belt 50, contact/separation sliders and roller brackets (702 and the like) that are contact/separation means for contacting and separating the intermediate transfer belt 50 with respect to the photoreceptor, and a sensor bracket 161 that holds a sensor holding member 130 holding a scale sensor that detects scale marks on the intermediate transfer belt 50 and is rotatable around a sensor rotation shaft 162. The copier further includes an upstream roller drive cam 703 and an upstream roller bracket 702 that function as detection means rotation shaft moving means for moving the sensor rotation shaft 162 that is the rotation shaft of the sensor bracket 161 with respect to an apparatus body.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a belt tension unit which achieves space saving and facilitates replacement work without causing complication of the configuration.SOLUTION: A belt tension unit 500 is provided in an image formation device body 100 and includes a tension member 501 that abuts on a belt surface 10a of an intermediate transfer belt 10 stretched between a plurality of rollers 14, 15, 16 and rotatively driven, and pressurization means 502 that pressurizes the tension member 501 toward the belt surface 10a. The belt tension unit 500 does not have depressurization means for releasing the pressurized state of the intermediate transfer belt 10 by the tension member 502 and the belt tension unit 500 is detachable from the image formation device body 100 or a belt unit 12 having the intermediate transfer belt 10 at the time of device driving stop.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that accurately suppresses degradation in image quality due to temperature deviation.SOLUTION: A heater left 64 is disposed inside the loop of an intermediate transfer belt 10 and between a photoreceptor 40Y and a photoreceptor 40M that are adjacent to each other; a heater right 65 is disposed inside the loop of the intermediate transfer belt 10 and between a photoreceptor 40C and a photoreceptor 40K that are adjacent to each other. The intermediate transfer belt 10 moves between the heater left 64, the heater right 65 and the photoreceptors 40. The heater left 64 and the heater right 65 are turned on/off by a thermostat 66.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a belt device and an image forming apparatus capable of accurately detecting an object to be detected that is formed on a belt member whose meandering is corrected by a meandering correction roller by a detection means. SOLUTION: The belt device includes: the detection means 90 which detects the object to be detected that is formed on the belt member 8 tensioned and laid on a plurality of roller members; the meandering correction roller 13 which is one of the plurality of roller members and corrects meandering of the belt member 8 by varying a tilt of a rotary shaft; first supporting members 31A and 31B which support the meandering correction roller 13 at positions of both ends in a rotary shaft direction; and a second supporting member 60 which supports the detection means 90. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus has a secondary transfer part N1 equipped with a secondary transfer counter member 18 and a secondary transfer member 22 arranged to be opposed to each other and coming into contact with the inner surface and outer surface of the intermediate transfer belt 10, and secondarily transferring a toner image to transfer material P from the intermediate transfer belt. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus where a uniform lubricant layer is formed on an image carrier, and the transferability and cleanability of toner on the image carrier are satisfactory improved. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is provided with: a first blade 71 cleaning residual toner after transfer in the surface of an intermediate transfer body 10; a coating brush 76 located at the downstream of the first blade, scraping off a solid lubricant 75 and coating the surface of the intermediate transfer body 10 therewith; and a second blade 73 located at the downstream of the coating brush 76 and leveling the lubricant coated on the surface of the intermediate transfer body 10. Provided that the length in the axial direction of the first blade is defined as L1, the length in the axial direction of the coating brush is defined as L2, the length in the axial direction of the solid lubricant is defined as L3 and the length in the axial direction of the second blade is defined as L4, the relation of L1≥L2>L3>L4 is satisfied. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which effectively avoids occurrence of abnormal images such as vermiculation, image blur and roughness of a transferred image, so that good image transfer can be performed. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus has a first image carrier which moves endlessly and carries a toner image on a surface thereof, and a second image carrier which moves endlessly and carries the toner image by primary transfer of the toner image on the first image carrier in a position opposite to the first image carrier, wherein the toner image on the second image carrier is secondarily transferred onto a transfer material. The image forming apparatus also has a lubricant applying means (brush roller) 90 to apply a lubricant to a toner image uncarrying area of the surface of at least one of the first image carrier and the second image carrier at a previous stage for carrying the toner image, a cleaning means 103 on an upstream side of the lubrication application position in the traveling direction of an image carrier (intermediate transfer belt) 10, and a lubricant leveling means (lubricant leveling blade) 104 on a downstream side of the lubricant application position.
