    Abstract: PURPOSE: To safely and efficiently obtain a compound useful as an intermediate for producing an N-phosphonomethylglycine salt useful as a herbicide, etc., by treating N-phosphonomethyliminodiacetic acid in the presence of water, active carbon and hydrogen peroxide. CONSTITUTION: A method for producing N-phosphonomethylglycine comprises adding water to N-phosphonomethyliminodiacetic acid, adding active carbon to the mixture in an amount of 0.1-0.75 pt.wt. per pt.wt. of the N- phosphonomethyliminodiacetic acid, dropping hydrogen peroxide on the mixture in an amount of 2-5 moles per mole of the N-phosphonomethyliminodiacetic acid with stirring at 60-65 deg.C for 3hr, further aging the mixture for one hr, filtering off the active carbon from the reaction solution at an enhanced temperature, vacuum-concentrating the filtrate to deposit the crystals, and subsequently isolating the crystals, thereby safely and efficiently obtaining the objective N-phosphonomethylglycine useful as a raw material or intermediate for an N-phosphonomethylglycine salt which is widely used as a herbicide.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide an antifouling paint in which hardening and thickening are improved, by adding a triorganotinamine compd. to an antifouling paint in which a triorganotin polymer type stainproofing agent is used together with cuprous oxide. CONSTITUTION:A triorganotinamine compd. of formula I and/or II [wherein R is lower alkyl, phenyl; R is H, alkyl, phenyl, benzyl, -SnR3 , -R OH; R is alkylene, phenylene, alkylene contg. OH, or a group of formula III (wherein n is 1-10); R is OH] is added to an antifouling paint in which a triorganotin polymer type stainproofing agent having at least one group of the formula -COOSnR3 (wherein R is lower alkyl, phenyl) in the polymer, is used together with cuprous oxide. An example of said triorganotin polymer type stainproofing agent is tripropyltin (meth) acrylate polymer. Examples of said triorganotinamine compds. are those of formulas IV and V.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:Title stabilizer with excellent heat stability and inital coloring properties, that is composed of an organotin mercapto compound and an organoantimony mercapto compound. CONSTITUTION:A tetraorganotin of formula I (R is alkyl, phenyl) is reacted with antimony trihalide of formula II (X is C1, Br, I ) to form a mixture of triorganotin halide and monoorganoantimony halide. The rusulting mixture is reacted with tin tetrahalide of formula III (X' is C1, Br, I). And finally the resluting mixed halides of monoorganotin trihalide, diorganotin dihalide, and monoorganotin trihalide are reacted with an organic compound bearing mercapto groups in the presence of a basic compound to produce the objective stabilizer. To 100 parts by wt of a halogen-containing resin are added 0.1-10, preferably 0.5-5 parts of the resulting stabilizer.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:The reaction of an epoxy compound with an alkali hydrosulfide is conducted in the presence of carbon disulfide and an alcohol, then the reaction mixture is acidified to produce title compound suitably used as resin stabilizer with industrial advantage. CONSTITUTION:In the presence of carbon disulfide and an alcohol preferably of 1-3 carbon atoms, the reaction between (A) an epoxy compound having at least one of epoxy group in the molecule of the formula, and (B) 1mol or more amount, based on per mole of the epoxy compound, of an alkali hydrosulfide as sodium hydrosulfide is effected. Then, the reaction mixture is acidified with hydrochloric acid to produce the objective compound.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To safely obtain the compound useful as a synthetic reagent for medicines and other compounds, having low toxicity, usable for reduction reaction, breakage reaction, ring formation reaction, etc., by reducing a specific high-purity tri-n-octyltin lower acylate. CONSTITUTION:An n-octyltin halide composition containing a tri-n-octyltin halide of formula I (X is Cl, Br or I) is treated with an alkali, then subjected to lower acylation to give a high-purity tri-n-octyltin lower acylate of formula II (R is 1-3C lower alkyl) (e.g. tri-n-octyltin acetate), which is reduced by using an alkali metal aluminum hydride (lithium aluminum hydride) or a metal borohydride (e.g. sodium borohydride) to give the objective high-purity compound having low toxicity, usable for reduction reaction, breakage reaction, ring formation reaction, etc., useful for a synthetic reagent for medicines, etc.
