Abstract: PURPOSE:To maintain a hole straight by reciprocating the head body of a honing head while rotating around the axis, and honing a stop hole alternately by means of long and short grinding wheels. CONSTITUTION:A honing head 1 comprises a head body 2, a tapered cone 4, a long shoe 5, a short shoe 6, a long grinding wheel 7 and a short grinding wheel 8. The head body 2 is coupled to the tip of a drive shaft 22 and reciprocal in the axial direction while rotating around the axis. The honing head 1 is inserted from an open end 11 of a work W in order to apply predetermined rotary reciprocal motion onto the head body 2. When the tapered cone 4 is slided and the shoes 5, 6 are extended radially, the grinding wheels 7, 8 repeats circular reciprocal pattern at the side of the stop hole 12 and rectangular reciprocal pattern at the side of the open end 11. When honing is applied onto the work W in such a manner, the hole can be maintained straight.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the extent of machining accuracy by means of in-process control by installing a sizing device, measuring the size of a work, in either side of a pair of lapping arms retractably with the work. CONSTITUTION:A measuring probe 17 of a sizing device 15 is extended to the side of a work after inserting it into each through hole 20 of two lapping tapes 3 and 4, maintaining a double side lapping system, and dimensions of the work W are measured in lapping operation. At this time, since the through holes 20 of these lapping tapes 3, 4 are opened at a specified pitch, only when the sizing device 15 is moved back, the measuring probe 17 is made to escape, and these lapping tapes 3, 4 are fed as long as the specified length, a newly setup of this probe 17 is made achievable. With this constitution, stable lapping operation can be secure and simultaneously the extent of machining accuracy by means of in-process control is thus improvable.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the finished accuracy of a cutting surface and enable the relative reciprocating motion of a cutting tool on the basis of measuring the actual diameter of a workpiece cutting surface. CONSTITUTION:An electric actuator 78 is operated to cause the relative reciprocating motion of a honing head and a workpiece in an axial direction for the honing of the workpiece. And the diameter of a workpiece cutting surface is measured with a measurement device and the value of the measurement is fed to a control device 160. Then, the control device 160 sets at least one of the relative motion range and speed of a cutting tool for the cutting surface in an axial direction on the basis of the measurement value. The electric actuator 78 is controlled with the control device 160, depending upon the set value. Or, when the axial relative motion range of the cutting tool needs a correction, the operation range of the electric actuator 78 is controlled. When the motion speed thereof needs a correction, the operation speed of the electric actuator 78 is controlled.
