    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve durability of a cam contact part by relaxing tensile stress applied on a coating part concerning a cam contact part structure of a valve system of an internal combustion engine applied with coating of an abrasion resistance material on the cam contact part. CONSTITUTION:A valve lifter 2 to transmit force of a cam to a valve 3 constituting an air intake valve and others is provided. On a surface of the valve lifter 2 facing against a cam 1, a shim 7 is arranged. The side of the cam 1 of the shim 7 is made convex in a spherical shape, and on its surface, an abrasion resistance layer 6 of ceramic is provided.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the piston preventing the strength reduction due to the formation of the groove of a piston ring by finishing the piston ring groove by executing machining further after forming it by executing plastic working on a piston stock. CONSTITUTION:Piston ring grooves 2, 3 are formed by plastic working on the piston stock 13 of the Al alloy, etc., obtd. by forging or casting. Said plastic working is performed by gang cam method or rolling method in cold or heating state, if necessary. The strength reduction for the load in the axial direction of a land can be prevented without cutting a metal flow 11 at the forming time of the piston ring grooves 2, 3. Thereafter, the piston ring grooves 2, 3 are finished by machining to obtain a piston 1. In said machining working time is shortened and the service life of the cutter used can drastically be extended.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the accuracy of a groove dimension, to make it unnecessary to execute an after working, etc., and to improve the productivity, by restricting a flow of a material in the axial direction of a cup part, at the time of pressing the cup part. CONSTITUTION:A cup part 5 of a preform W is placed on a mandrel 6,... and contained in a die, and thereafter, an upper die 10 is made to descend and a punch 12,... is moved in the direction of a preform 5 by a cam surface 11a of a fixed cam 11, and an outside peripheral surface of the cup part 5 is pressed. At the same time, a piston 14a is made to descend by supplying a hydraulic pressure to a hydraulic mechanism 14 and a back face 5d of the cup part 5 is pressed by a work holder 13. Also, by a restricting part 8a of a knockout plate 8 which has been provided on a lower die 4, an elongation of an end face 5b of the cup part 5 is restricted. In this way, by pressing the back face 5d of the cup part 5, and restricting the end face 5b side, a distribution of a working pressure in the preform becomes roughly constant. Therefore, after forming, a variation of wall thickness caused by spring-back, etc. is suppressed small, and a groove having a high dimension accuracy is formed.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To lower the molding pressure and reduce the weight of an outer race by providing a projection on the forming surface of a punch so that a recessed part is formed at the corresponding part among ball-rolling-grooves in the outer periphery of a cup part, thereby enhancing the fill-up performance of the material. CONSTITUTION:A triangular projection 3 is provided on a forming surface 1 of a punch 1. The projections of punches neighboring with each other are reversed in their directions, and the tip ends of the projections are extended to the middle in the direction of height of the punch 1. This punch 1 is built in into a mode. In coining, a recessed part 8 is created owing to the projection 3 at the corresponding part among the ball-rolling-grooves 7 in the outer periphery of a cup part 6 of an outer race 5. The weight of the race is reduced by the amount corresponding to this recessed part 8, and moreover the underfill at the end of the rolling groove can be prevented from occurring. Therefore, the accuracy of the groove can be enhanced without raising the forming pressure.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve ironing accuracy to the inside diameter of a step part on inner peripheral face in a cylindrical parts by executing the ironing with a punch and a sleeve punch. CONSTITUTION:In the ironing the inner diameter in the cylindrical parts 10 providing a first inner peripheral face 12 and a second inner peripheral face 14 connected with the above first inner peripheral face and having smaller diameter than that of the first inner peripheral face, the punch 34 is inserted through an opening part at the first inner peripheral face and further, inserted to the second inner peripheral face to execute the ironing to the inner face of the second inner peripheral face 14 (a first ironing process). Successively, in the inserting condition of the punch 34 into the second inner peripheral face, the sleeve punch 36 is inserted into the first inner peripheral face by using the punch 34 as a guide shaft to execute the inner diameter ironing to the first inner peripheral face (a second ironing process). By this method, the inside diameter ironing is executed to the inner peripheral face in a perform formed with cold forging, etc., and the high dimensional accuracy can be obtd.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for a trial forging of a product and to shorten its development time by allowing a quantity of radial dimensional change in each axial direction and the position of a ball groove regarding the die or preform from a quantity of elastic recovery of preform and a quantity of bending of a die in forming. CONSTITUTION:When a cylinder part 18a of the preform 18 is fitted to a guide part 14 of a punch 13 and a upper die 11 is lowered, combination dies 16 are pushed by a cam 17, advanced toward the guide part 14 and press the cylinder part 18a of the preform 18 to the guide part 14. A mandrel 15 is pressed into the inner part of the cylinder part 18a to form plural ball grooves 19 followed the shape. The stress distribution of the ball grooves 19 are obtained by calculation, the quantity of the elastic recovery of the rough section 18 and the quantity of bending of the mandrel 15 in a forming time are counted according to this result. This result is added to specify the quantity of dimensional change in the radial direction of the ball grooves 19 and this quantity of change is allowed in the mandrel 15. Consequently, a quantity of the dimensional change can be allowed in the die or the preform and the development time of a new product can be shortened.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To firmly fix a reinforcing member to a piston body, by forming a recess at a top portion of the piston body, engaging with the recess the reinforcing member having a tapering shape such that a bottom portion is expanded, and then ironing an outer periphery of the top portion of the piston body. CONSTITUTION:In manufacturing the piston, a recess 24 for engaging a reinforcing member 4 is preliminarily formed at a top portion 22 of a piston body 2. The top portion 22 of the piston body 2 is formed to have an outer diameter greater than that of the other portion. Then, the reinforcing member 4 having a tapering shape such that a bottom portion thereof is expanded is engaged with the recess 24 of the top portion 22 of the piston body 2. Then, an outer periphery 26 of the top portion 22 is ironed in a predetermined direction to shift a wall portion 28 of the outer periphery 26 inwardly of the recess 24. Accordingly, a gap between an inner diameter of the recess 24 of the piston body 2 and an outer diameter of a top portion of the tapering reinforcing member 4 is nullified to thereby combine the reinforcing member 4 with the top portion 22 of the piston body 2.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To form a center groove to an exact position with high accuracy by applying a back pressure to the rear face of a cup part by an oil pressure and strongly pressing the rear face of the cup part by an upper die so that the center groove is coined to the base of the cup part by a center spacer. CONSTITUTION:A punch 14 is moved by a cam face 13a toward the bore of a stock 6 to press the outside peripheral face 6c of the cup part 6a when the cup part 6a of a stock 6 is put on a mandrel 7 and the center spacer 9 and the upper die 12 is lowered after the cup part is housed into a lower die 5. The groove is thus coined on the inside peripheral face 6b of the cup part 6a by the mandrel 7. A work holder 15 contacts the rear face 6 of the cup part 6a at this time and the back pressure is applied to the rear face 6d by a hydraulic cylinder 17 to prevent floating up of the stock 6 during coining of the groove. A top surface 19a of a piston of the hydraulic cylinder 17 contacts the top surface 18a of the cylinder part 18 just before the bottom dead point of the stroke of the upper die 12, then the die 12 and the holder 15 are rigidly connected to strongly press the rear face 6d of the cup part 6a of the stock 6. The center groove is thus coined to the rear face by the center spacer 9.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To embody the contact with less friction both for a cam and a shim for a long time by providing two kinds of thin coating whose hardness is different on the shim surface. CONSTITUTION:A shim 26 is formed where the base metal 28 is formed of the steel or the like whose HV hardness is 350-1000, and the surface roughness is not greater than 0.1mumRz. The shim consists of a first thin film 30 on the surface of the base metal 28 which is removed by grinding immediately after finishing the mirror surface of the cam where the HV hardness is 1500-7000, and the thickness is 0.2mum, and a second thin film 32 which is fairly thicker than the first thin film 30 which is located thereunder and the HV hardness is less than 1500. Immediately after the assembly, the rough surface (about 3.2mum) of the cam is finished to obtain a mirror surface by the first thin film 30 which is hard, and at this time, the first thin film 30 is completely removed by grinding, the second thin film 32 thereunder is exposed. Thereafter, the second thin film 32 is brought into contact with the cam surface.
