    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily work and assemble passage forming members to connect separate fluid passages in such a manner to abut on each other. SOLUTION: A communication pipe 33 is held by an expanded recessed part 31 to fold an opening side end part of a first fuel feed passage 18 of a holder body 11 and an expanded recessed part 32 to form an opening side end part of a second fuel feed passage 22 of an intermediate member 14. The communication pipe 33 is elastically deformed by the pressure applied from the high- pressure fuel so that the entire communication pipe is expanded in the radial direction, and the entire outer circumferential surface 33b thereof is pressed against inner circumferential surfaces 31b and 32b of the expanded recessed parts 31 and 32. The entire circumferential surface is elastically deformed in an expanding manner in the axial direction, and each circumferential end face 33a is pressed against the entire circumference of bottom surfaces 31a and 32a of the expanded recessed parts 31 and 32. In this condition, the communication pipe 33 communicates the fuel feed passages 18 and 22 with each other in the sealed manner.

CONSTITUTION:A valve lifter 2 to transmit force of a cam to a valve 3 constituting an air intake valve and others is provided. On a surface of the valve lifter 2 facing against a cam 1, a shim 7 is arranged. The side of the cam 1 of the shim 7 is made convex in a spherical shape, and on its surface, an abrasion resistance layer 6 of ceramic is provided.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent discharge caused by a sticking-out or bent electrode plate by locating piezoelectric plates and electrode plates with centering members in their central holes. CONSTITUTION:Piezoelectric plates 1 and electrode plates 2 are piled alternately on a pair of centering members 3 set as distant as the length of the major axes of the elliptic holes of the piezoelectric plates 1 with the protrusions 22 of the electrode plates 2 alternately positioned at both ends of the minor axes of the piezoelectric plates 1. The piezoelectric plates 1 and the electrode plates 2 are located and fastened with the centering members 3. The protrusions 22 of the electrode plates 2 of the same polarity are bent and joined by welding to make fetch electrodes. Thereby the fetch electrodes made of the protrusions 22 of the electrode plates 2 are arranged at the insulation parts of the elliptic holes of the piezoelectric plates 1 and insulation distances from the electrode layers are secured. Therefore, the centers do not slip in assembly and the centering members 3 of the piezoelectric laminate prevent slippage of the piezoelectric plates 1 and the electrode plates 2 in operation.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To further improve operability of laminating and adhering by conducting a first step of forming a laminate and a second step of connecting the laminate in separate steps. CONSTITUTION:Electrode plates 1 and piezoelectric plates 2 are alternately laminated 58 sheets without using adhesive. In this case, tongues 11 are disposed to protrude oppositely at 180 degrees to each other. Then, a formed laminate 3 is disposed in an immersing chamber 4, the laminate 3 is held by a clamp 7, held under pressure from both axial ends, the chamber 4 is evacuated under reduced pressure, a cylinder unit 6 is driven to dip the laminate 3 in adhesive 5, and the adhesive 5 is filled from the opening 12a of the plate 1 into an adhesive passage 12. Then, the laminate 3 is pulled up from a tank 50, the chamber 4 is returned to the normal pressure, held by the clamp 6 under pressure, the entire laminate 3 is heated, the adhesive 5 is cured in the passage 12, and the laminate 3 is integrally connected.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To optimize the material quality and arrangement of a valve lifter by forming the valve lifter from FRP containing a specific weight percent of fibers having a glass transition temperature of higher than 200 deg. C and a length obtained by multiplying the outer diameter of the valve lifter with a specific value. CONSTITUTION:An FRP valve lifter body 11 having an insert 12 provided to a part with which the stem end of a valve makes contact is made of fiber- reinforced plastic containing 30 to 70wt% of fibers having a glass-transition temperature of higher than 200 deg. C and a length obtained by multiplying the outer diameter of the valve lifter with a value of 0.2 to 1.5. With this arrangement, the material quality and arrangement of the valve lifter is optimized so that the valve lifter can be put into practical use. Accordingly, it is possible to make the valve lifter lightweight and to reduce noise from a valve drive system.

In this case, a matrix metal 4 forms the outermost layer of the metal body 3. A commercially available grit blasting material is applied to thus manufactured cylindrical fiber-reinforced metal body, to carry out grit blasting. After the grit blasting is completed, a thermal spraying layer 2 is formed on the surface of the light metal of the roughened outermost layer, with a material having resistance to wear and seizing such as a metal, a ceramic, etc., and the surface is polished, to manufacture a piston pin 1.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To easily mold a circulating path for cooling liquid and a valve seat having a clad sheet layer and further to more improve cooling performance by the clad sheet layer. CONSTITUTION:A valve seat 16 comprises a cooling groove 17, closing member 18 and a clad sheet layer 19. The cooling groove 17 is drilled in a contact location of an intake valve 6 in a cylinder head 1. The cooling groove 17 is formed in a circular annular shape and opened toward a combustion chamber 2. The cooling groove 17 communicates with a cooling water introducing hole and a cooling water discharge hole 26. The closing member 18 closes an opening end of the cooling groove 17. A circulating path 21 for cooling water is formed between the closing member 18 and a wall surface of the cooling groove 17. The clad sheet layer 19 is formed by padding in surface of the closing member 18 and a peripheral location of the cooling groove 17 by a laser clad method where metal powder is welded by using irradiation of laser light.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To increase the strength of a shim wall without increasing the thick ness of the shim wall by forming the shim wall of a valve lifter by means of reinforced fiber oriented in the vertical direction to the shim. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of prepregs 13 composed of carbon fiber of rein forced fiber 12 random oriented two-dimensionally to vinyl ester resin are lami nated and disposed in a compression molding die with a cavity of valve lifter shape, and the mold is heat pressurized. Then the prepregs 13 is filled in the inside of the cavity to form a molded material 10. At that time, the height of a bank section 11 on the cavity of the mold is formed higher than that of a shim wall 8 of a valve lifter 3 by 2-5 times. Then the bank section 11 of the molded material 10 and a processing margin are shaved into the shape of the dimension of valve lifter 3. The prepregs easily flows into the bank section 11 and the reinforced fiber 12 is easily oriented by said arrangement, and the reinforced fiber 12 is oriented in the vertical direction to the shim end surface at the shim wall 8 to increase the strength in the diameter direction.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable the title piezoelectric laminate having bonded laminates without using a bonding agent at all to be manufactured by a method wherein the central parts of electrode layers are formed into a concave shape on the surface of piezoelectric sheets so as to be laminated with metallic electrode sheets in a vacuum atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:Silver electrode layers 21 are formed on both surface and rear of piezoelectric sheets 2 so that the central parts of the layers 21 may be thinned by several mum while thickening the edge parts thereof and then the piezoelectric sheets 2 and metallic electrode sheets 3 are alternately laminated in a vacuum chamber. At this time, the electrode layers 21 of the piezoelectric sheets 2 and the metallic electrode sheets 3 are laminated making cavities 11 between the layers 21 and the sheets 3. Next, (every other one) of the same kind of tongue type terminal parts of the metallic electrode sheets 3 of the laminate 1 are bent and welded into a junction electrode 31 to form a pair of electrodes connecting to lead wires 4. This process is performed in the vacuum chamber since the laminate 1 is not yet fixed. Finally, the outer peripheral edge surface of the manufactured laminate 1 is coated with insulating material 5 to be set.
