Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly dispersed solid-liquid dispersion which enhances the dispersibility of inorganic powder in organic solvents without adding a dispersant. SOLUTION: This solid-liquid dispersion comprises an organic solvent and inorganic powder whose surface is treated with two kinds of silane coupling agents comprising a silane coupling agent having fluorine atoms in the molecule and a silane coupling agent having a silicon-nitrogen bond in the molecule. The mass ratio of the silane coupling agent having the fluorine atoms in the molecule to the silane coupling agent having the silicon-nitrogen bond in the molecule is preferably 70:30 to 30:70. The inorganic powder is preferably fine particulate titanium dioxide or fine particulate zinc oxide having an average primary particle diameter of 5 to 200 nm. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a UV ray shielding dispersion and a UV ray shielding coating composition having high transmissivity to visible light and excellent shielding performance particularly against long-wavelength UV rays. SOLUTION: Monoclinic particulate bismuth oxides having an average primary particle diameter of 10 to 100 nm are produced by adding an acidic aqueous solution of bismuth and an alkali hydroxide aqueous solution to water, hydrolyzing the bismuth in the solution while keeping the pH to 9.5 to 11.5, subjecting the produced precipitate to filtration, rinsing with water, drying and firing to obtain monoclinic bismuth oxide, and performing wet pulverizing to the obtained monoclinic bismuth oxide in the presence of a solvent and a dispersion medium. The UV ray shielding dispersion is produced by incorporating the bismuth oxide, wherein a thin film formed of the dispersion having a dry film thickness of 1 to 4 μm shows a transmittance of not more than 20% at a wavelength from 250 to 400 nm and a transmittance of not less than 70% at a wavelength from 450 to 800 nm. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide monoclinic particulate bismuth oxide having high transmissivity (transparency) to visible light and a shielding performance against long-wavelength UV rays (near UV rays), which is suitable to be used as a UV ray shielding agent, and to provide a UV ray shielding dispersion utilizing the above characteristics. SOLUTION: Monoclinic particulate bismuth oxide having an average primary particle diameter of 10 nm to 100 nm are produced by adding an acidic aqueous solution of bismuth and an alkali hydroxide aqueous solution to water, hydrolyzing the bismuth in the solution while keeping the pH to 9.5 to 11.5, subjecting the produced precipitate to filtration, rinsing with water, drying and firing to obtain monoclinic bismuth oxide, and performing wet pulverizing to the obtained monoclinic bismuth oxide in the presence of a solvent and a dispersion medium.
