PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper discharging device by which paper can be discharged outside at the best timing, and to provide a paper discharging method, an image forming device, and an image forming method.SOLUTION: The paper discharging device includes: a conveying path L conveying the paper from an upstream side to a downstream side; an inhibiting member 51 arranged on the conveying path to inhibit the paper from being conveyed to a rear stage by pinching the paper or by closing the conveying path; and a control part 31 allowing the paper to be bent by inhibiting the conveyance of the paper, then conveyed to the downstream side of the conveying path, and discharged through the conveying path.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal printer which can be easily and smoothly opened and closed. SOLUTION: The thermal printer 10 comprises a printer body 12 and a cover 14. The cover 14 is attached to the printer body 12 to be rotatable between a close state and an open state. A platen roller 25 is provided on the cover 14, and a thermal head 41 is installed in the printer body 12. The thermal head 41 is disposed oppositely to the platen roller 25 in the close state and presses the platen roller 25. The thermal printer 10 is equipped with an engagement ratchet 30 and an engagement pin 19 as a locking mechanism for engaging and releasing the printer body 12 and the cover 14 each other. The engagement ratchet 30 and the thermal head 41 are connected with each other by a link member 50.
