Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for electrospinning a high-viscosity PTFE dispersion and to provide a PTFE mat obtained thereby.SOLUTION: A dispersion including PTFE, a fiberizing polymer and a solvent and having a viscosity of at least 50,000 cP is supplied to an electrospinning apparatus including a charge source and a target at a fixed distance from the charge source. The dispersion is electrostatically charged by contact with the charge source. The charged dispersion is collected on the target to form a mat precursor. The mat precursor is heated to remove the solvent and the fiberizing polymer, thereby forming a PTFE mat.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite structure excellent in air permeability, improved in interlayer coupling properties, surface properties and mechanical strength, and having a wide range of applications.SOLUTION: The composite structure has a plurality of electrospun nanofibers 2 on a first surface of a first expanded poly(tetrafluoroethylene) (ePTFE) layer 1. The nanofibers 2 have a density in which distances between their points of contact range from about 0.1 μm to about 50 μm.
