PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary cutting tool which can hardly cause biting of chips, and can be manufactured at low cost. SOLUTION: This rotary cutting tool is constructed so that a hard coating 8 made of a metal carbide, metal nitride or metal carbonitride or solid solution thereof is formed on the base material surface of a flank 6, an oxidized coating 9 obtained by oxidizing the base material surface is formed on a cutting face 7 connected to the flank 6, and the hard coating 8 is formed on the oxidized coating 9. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting tool that includes an elongate body (22) that has a forward end (26) and a rearward end (24).SOLUTION: The elongate body (22) has a fluted part (30) that has a beginning in the vicinity of the forward end (26) and extends rearward from the forward end. The fluted part (30) has a flute (36, 38, 40, 42) that defines a cutting edge. The flute presents a concave cutting face (60) wherein the concave cutting face (60) is defined by a first radius (R1). The flute further presents a concave core surface (66) adjacent to the concave cutting face (60) wherein the concave core surface (66) is defined by a second radius (R2). The flute presents a convex heel surface (64) adjacent to the concave core surface (66) wherein the convex heel surface (64) is defined by a fourth radius (R4).

A cutting tool that includes an elongate body that has a forward end and a rearward end. The elongate body has a fluted portion that beginning near and extends in a rearward direction from the forward end. The fluted portion has a flute that defines a cutting edge. The flute presents a concave cutting face wherein the concave cutting face is defined by a first radius. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve characteristics of a tap relating to cutting thread. SOLUTION: The tap for cutting threads in blind holes has a connection part 4 at a first end part 6, a threading part 8 at a second end part 10, and an elongated body 2 with a central axis A-A. The threading part is provided with at least one helical thread 16 about circumference of the body, and an interconnected flank part 14 defining an outline of at least one helical flute 12 from the region of the second end part 10 toward the first end part 6 and interrupting the helical thread 16. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting tap for cutting an internal thread of a material.SOLUTION: The cutting tap includes an elongate tap body (22) with a fluted section (30) at the axial forward end (24) thereof wherein the fluted section (30) includes a chamfered fluted section (54) and a finishing fluted section (56). Each cutting thread (58, 62, 66, 68) in the chamfered fluted section (54) has a cutting face (72, 76, 80) disposed at a cutting face angle that becomes more negative the more axially rearward the cutting thread (58, 62, 66, 68) is from the axial forward end (24) of the chamfered fluted section (54). Each cutting thread (58, 62, 66, 68) in the finishing fluted section (56) has a cutting face (72, 76, 80) disposed at a finishing cutting face angle that is essentially equal. The finishing cutting face angle is more negative than the cutting face angle for the cutting thread at the axial rearward termination of the chamfered fluted section (54).
