SOLUTION: The invention relates to the method for producing porous body which is a porous body comprising vapor grown carbon fibers wherein the wall surface of the cell is composed of the porous structure, characterized by dispersing vapor grown carbon fibers in a solution of gelable substance, followed by gelling the gellable substance and then removing the solvent. Film, fibre, foam and adhesive materials are produced from soluble S-sulfonated keratins. Once formed, the films, fibres, foams or adhesives are treated to modify the properties of the materials, in particular to improve the wet strength of the materials. Treatments used include removal of the S-sulfonate group by treatment with a reducing agent, treatment with an acid or treatment with a common protein crosslinking agent or treatment with a reduced form of keratin or keratin protein. The films are made by solvent casting a solution of S-sulfonated keratin proteins, the foam made by freeze-drying a solution of S-sulfonated keratin proteins and the fibres made by extruding a solution of a S-sulfonated keratin protein.

The present invention provides a method for preparing biodegradable porous polymer scaffolds for tissue engineering, comprising:a) fabricating a polymer sample from a polymer solution containing at least one biodegradable polymer and an effervescent mixture;b) effervescing the polymer sample in the presence of an effervescent medium such as an aqueous alcohol solution; andc) drying.The method for preparing biodegradable polymer scaffolds of the present invention has the advantages that the process is simple, that pore size can be easily controlled, that the problem caused by the secretion and existence of the toxic substance can be avoid by using a material harmless to human body, and that high efficiency can be achieved. In addition, biodegradable porous polymer scaffolds prepared by above method have the advantages that high porosity can be achieved and an open cell structure in which pores are interconnected is obtained.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protein thin film and a protein fiber manufactured from S-sulfonated keratin derivatives, and to provide a method of manufacturing the protein thin film and the protein fiber. SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing the protein thin film by performing solvent casting of an solution of S-sulfonated keratin protein, and the method of manufacturing the protein fiber by extruding a solution of S-sulfonated keratin into an aqueous solution containing a reductant and salts that causes the protein in the solution to become insoluble are provided.
