When the ferrules 2 are pressed in from both ends of this sleeve 5 and placed so as to be opposed to each other, the ferrule 2 is clamped from three sides by springiness of the sleeve 5 and held stably also clamped extending over a wide surface by the groove 7, and it is possible to obtain a connecting structure which is capable of holding an optical fiber with high accuracy, is inexpensive and also manufactured easily.

CONSTITUTION:A snap-in type optical connector consists of a female type connector 1 and a male type connector 2. The connector 2 consists of a boss part 3 to be inserted with the forward end of an optical fiber, a circular cylindrical part 4 of a small diameter extended forward, and an outside cylinder part 5 extended forward from the outside of the boss part 3. Two detaining pawls 6 are projected from the inside surface at the front end of the part 5. A space 7 for insertion of the connector 1 is generated between the part 4 and the part 5. A cable 9 and a fiber core 11 are placed in holes 8, 10. The connector 1 has a cylindrical part 12, a toric projecting line 4 and a wave-like projection 15. The connectors 1, 2 are connected simply by moving the same axially. The disconnection is accomplished by moving axially and twisting the connectors at the same instant.
