PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus, method and program that reduces misregistration among images in all colors.SOLUTION: Rotation of at least one of a transfer-sheet conveying belt 8 and an intermediate transfer belt 6 is controlled so as to match the phases of fluctuation of the surface speed of the intermediate transfer belt 6 and fluctuation of the surface speed of the transfer-sheet conveying belt 8, whereby the periodical speed fluctuations of both the intermediate transfer belt 6 and the transfer-sheet conveying belt 8 is kept the minimum, and misregistration among images in all colors is reduced.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent deterioration of an image due to switch between full-color image formation and monochrome image formation. SOLUTION: An image forming device includes a full-color image formation mode to form a color image, using a plurality of photoconductors and a monochrome image formation mode to form a monochrome image using a single photoconductor. The image forming device includes: a control means for changing rotational speeds of the plurality of color photoconductors when changing from the full-color image formation mode to the monochrome image formation mode, to make a torque to a driving means for drive rotation of the image forming medium equal to a torque to the driving means in the monochrome image formation mode; and a separating means for separating the plurality of color photoconductors from the image forming medium after the rotational speeds of the plurality of color photoconductors are changed by the control means. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of stably outputting a high-quality image by controlling the speed of a sheet conveyance belt considering influence of a toner image included on a transfer part in forming an image.SOLUTION: A representative constitution of an image forming apparatus related to the present invention includes an intermediate transfer belt 8 for carrying a toner image, and a secondary transfer belt 21 which carries a sheet and is movable. The image forming apparatus changes a relative speed between the intermediate transfer belt 8 and the secondary transfer belt 21, forms multiple calibration patterns consisted of toner images, on the intermediate transfer belt 8 at respective multiple different relative speeds, transfers the multiple calibration patterns on a sheet, and controls the speeds of the intermediate transfer belt 8 and the secondary transfer belt 21 so that the relative speed therebetween is a speed that formed an optimal calibration pattern among the multiple calibration patterns.
