PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magenta toner that can provide good color development, with a small adhesion amount, on a recording medium, in particular on glossy paper requiring high color characteristics, and has good storage stability as well.SOLUTION: A magenta toner contains a binder resin including at least an amorphous resin, a magenta pigment including a naphthol pigment, and a mold release agent. The magenta toner has a glass transition temperature of 19 to 40°C; an X-ray diffraction pattern of the naphthol pigment has a plurality of peaks in a range of 0°≤2θ≤35°; and the sum of half value widths of the respective peaks is 5° to 10°.

A molar ratio of the trimellitic acid is 0.1 mol% or more and 10 mol% or less with respect to the entire polymerizable component of the amorphous polyester resin. The content of the C.I. pigment violet 37 is 1 mass% or more and 20 mass% or less with respect to the total mass of the toner particles.
