PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydroforming lubricant, which exhibits excellent lubrication and seizure preventing performance to prevent break, buckling, damage on the surface during a hydroforming process and can be removed after the molding process; a hydroforming metallic tube using the lubricant, and a hydroforming processing method. SOLUTION: The hydroforming lubricant comprises 0.1-10 wt.% of wax with a melting point 45-110°C on a solid weight basis, and the rest of the hydroforming lubricant consists of at least one of a soluble aqueous resin and a surfactant. Preferably, the wax consists of one or more kinds of wax among carnauba wax, lanolin, and paraffin, while the soluble aqueous resin consists of one or more kinds of resin among acrylic resin with molecular weight of 5,000-100,000, polyalkylene glycol with molecular weight of 800-35,000, urethane resin, polylactic acid, and polyvinyl alcohol. Abstract:
A problem with refrigeration systems using ammonia as the refrigerant and hydrocarbon lubricants is that the seals/gaskets of the systems have a tendency to harden and shrink. This can cause leakage of the refrigerant and eventually require disassembly of the equipment and replacement of the seals. The addition of a small amount polyether having an aromatic fragment of 6-18 carbon atoms or an aliphatic fragment of 10-22 carbon atoms can soften the seals and partially re-swell the seals solving the leakage problem and avoiding expensive maintenance costs. Alternatively a polyether of 1,2-butylene oxide which is more oil soluble than most other polyethers with a smaller Z group e.g. derived from alkanols of 1 to 9 carbon would be effective at reducing hardening and shrinkage.
Abstract:
Polyalkene alcohol polyalkoxylates R-(CH2)n-(O-A)m-OH, where R is a polyalkene radical derived from C2- to C30-alkenes and having a number average molecular weight from 300 to 5000, A is an alkylene group of 2 to 8 carbon atoms, m is a number up to 200, with the proviso that the oxygen in the oxyalkylate radical accounts for at least 16.5% by weight of the number average molecular weight of the total molecule I, and n is 0 or 1, are suitable as carrier oils in fuel and lubricant compositions.
