PURPOSE: A method for selectively growing semiconductive carbon nano-tube using light irradiation is provided to improve the yield of semiconductive carbon nano-tube by radiating ultraviolet light to the interface of catalytic nano-dot and metallic carbon nano-tube in order to stop the growth of the metallic carbon nano-tube. CONSTITUTION: Catalytic nano-dot(110) is serially arranged on a substrate(100) to a first direction. Carbon nano-tube is grown based on the nano-dot. Ultraviolet light is radiated to the nano-dot through a slit(120), which is formed to a second direction in order to selectively grow semiconductive carbon nano-tube. The second direction is orthogonal to the first direction. The substrate is sapphire substrate.

PURPOSE: A method for fixing DNA to a solid support and a DNA catalyst dipped in the solid support thereby are provided to effectively remove gaseous, particular, and watery carcinogenic PAHs(Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons). CONSTITUTION: A solid support in which DNA solution is dipped is prepared by drying the solid support at 60-150°C for 1-24 hours and irradiating UV ray. The DNA solution is prepared by mixing 0.1-2.0 weight parts of DNA-Na in 100ml of third distilled water at room temperature. The solid support is activated charcoal, activated charcoal fiber, and activated cokes. In the DAN solution, more than 100bp DNA is used. The wave length of the irradiated UV ray is 250-270 nm.

The inner layer of can be gold/titanium dioxide, platinum/titanium dioxide, or manganese oxide/titanium dioxide. The outer layer of titanium dioxide or metal oxide doped titanium dioxide oxides volatile organic compounds to carbon dioxide, water, and other substances. As the outer layer is thin and porous, the contaminants in the air can diffuse through the outer layer and absorb onto the inner layer. When photons of the ultraviolet light are absorbed by the coating, reactive hydroxyl radicals are formed that oxidize the contaminant to produce water, carbon dioxide, and other substances.
