According to an embodiment of the present invention, disclosed is a control method for a washing machine which heats washing water to perform a washing course comprising: a steam supply step of supplying the washing water to a steam level which is higher than a bottom surface of the inner tub and lower than the main washing water level, such that a portion of the blanket housed inside the inner tub is wetted by the washing water; a steam step of driving a washing heater arranged in an outer tub housing the inner tub to heat the washing water to a first set temperature and generating steam from the washing water; a washing water supply step of supplying the washing water to the main washing water level; and a washing water heating step of driving the washing heater again to heat the washing water to a second set temperature lower than the first set temperature.
