Abstract: A reforming system for a combined cycle plant with partial CO2 capture is provided to increase efficiency by running the system at lower temperatures and using recycle streams, and reduce capital and operational costs by capturing only the emissions of CO2 generated beyond the plant's yearly quota, thereby avoiding costly carbon charges, wherein it will be advantageous since the system can be retrofitted by existing NGCC power plants. A combined cycle system(10) comprises: a reformer unit(12) comprising a pre-steam-methane-reformer(14) configured to generate a first reformate stream(24) by operating the pre-steam-methane-reformer at a temperature of less than about 800 deg.C and reforming a mixed fuel stream(22) comprising a first fuel(18) and a steam(20); a shift reaction unit(30) comprising a water-gas-shift reactor(32) configured to convert carbon monoxide in the first reformate stream to carbon dioxide and form a second reformate stream(34); a carbon dioxide removal unit(40) configured to remove carbon dioxide from the second reformate stream and remove a carbon dioxide stream(46) and a third reformate stream(48), wherein an amount less than about 50% of the carbon contained in the mixed fuel stream is recovered as carbon dioxide; a gas turbine unit(54) configured to receive a mixture of the third reformate stream and a second fuel(50) and generate power and an exhaust gas stream(74), wherein the exhaust gas stream provides heat for reforming the mixed fuel stream; and a steam generator unit(78) configured to receive the exhaust gas stream, wherein the heat of the exhaust gas stream is transferred to a water stream(92) to generate a cooled exhaust gas stream(94), steam for a steam turbine(84), and the mixed fuel stream.

Abstract: A system and a method of reducing NOx emission in a gas turbine system and an internal combustion engine are provided to induce lower emission of NOx by allowing lean combustion and lower flame. A system of reducing NOx emission in a gas turbine system and an internal combustion engine includes a compressor(12), a combustor(14), a turbine assembly(16), and an oxygen-enriched gas supply(18). The compressor is located on an upper part of the combustor in fluid-communication with the combustor, compresses gas including oxygen, and supplies the combustor with the air. The combustor is located on an upper part of the turbine assembly in fluid-communication with the turbine assembly, and receives the gas from the compressor by an oxygen enriched stream(24). The turbine assembly provides propulsion by removing exhaust gas, a mechanical force by rotating a shaft connected to a turbine, or a propulsion and mechanical force combined force. The oxygen-enriched gas supply is located on an upper part of the combustor in fluid-communication with the combustor.
