摘要: Continuously cast products (12) are often provided with surface defects such as oscillation marks (17) and other non-homogeneous structures in the cast state thereof during production in a casting die (11) of a continuous casting plant (10). Defects which render a strip useless for superior applications also frequently occur on the strip surface during subsequent milling of the slab (12") into a strip. The aim of the invention is to minimize said defects and provide the rolling mill with a slab (12") having a desired preliminary profile and an improved near-surface structure. Said aim is achieved by arranging a reducing roll stand (30) in the area of the bending rolls or straightening driver rolls (24) within the continuous casting plant (10). Said reducing roll stand (30) allows the cast billet (12) to be deformed in a specific manner at an early point in time while still having a high temperature and providing a high energy yield after being completely hardened such that the depth of the existing oscillation marks (17) on the cast billet surface (16) is reduced, the finely crystalline edge layer (18) is enlarged as a result of the energy being released which is introduced into the reducing billet (12') during said deformation process, and increased recrystallization occurs and the grains in the deformed edge zone (19) of the slab (12") are refined during the subsequent thermal treatment in a holding furnace (40).

摘要: PURPOSE: To provide hot rolling mills of the type producing bar and rod products to obtain improvements in the pinch roll units and associated controls employed to propel and/or retard the movement of such products at various places along the mill pass line. CONSTITUTION: In a pinch roll unit(24,26) for either propelling or retarding a product moving along the pass line (PL) of a rolling mill, the pinch roll unit comprises a pair of levers mounted for rotation about parallel first axes; roll shafts carried by the levers, each roll shaft being journalled for rotation about a second axis parallel to the first axis of its respective lever; pinch rolls(34) carried by the roll shafts, the pinch rolls defining a gap there between for receiving the product; an electrically powered first motor; linkage means for mechanically coupling the first motor to the levers, the first motor being operable via the linkage means to rotate the levers about the first axes and to move the pinch rolls between open positions spaced from the product, and close positions contacting and gripping the product therebetween; and an electrically powered second motor for rotatably driving the pinch rolls, wherein the linkage means comprises a disc crank driven by the first motor for rotation about a third axis parallel to the first and second axes, and a pair of link members, each link member being pivotally coupled at opposite ends to the disc crank and to a respective one of the levers, and wherein the pinch roll unit further comprises detector means (HMD-1,HMD-2) for generating a signal indicative of the presence of the product at a location along the pass line preceding the gap defined between the pinch rolls, and control means responsive to the signal for operating the first motor to move the pinch rolls between the open and closed positions by rotating the levers about the first axes.

摘要: A roll stand for a rolling mill, comprising: a support structure adapted to be fixed at a selected location along a mill center line. First and second work rolls are configured and arranged to roll products directed therebetween. The first work roll has roll necks journalled for rotation in bearings contained in first chocks, and the second work roll likewise has roll necks journalled for rotation in bearings contained in second chocks, with the first and second chocks of the work rolls being arranged in pairs located on opposite sides of the mill center line. The first and second chocks of each pair are connected to the support structure for pivotal movement respectively about parallel first and second connecting axes which extend in parallel relationship with respect to the axes of the rolls and orthogonally with respect to the mill center line. An adjustment mechanism is provided for simultaneously pivoting the first and second chocks of each pair in opposite directions about their respective connecting axes in order to symmetrically adjust the parting between the work rolls.

摘要: PURPOSE: Provided is a housingless roll stand which has a simplified compact design, in which only two screw posts are required to effect symmetrical roll parting adjustments. CONSTITUTION: A roll stand(10) for a rolling mill comprises a support structure(12) adapted to be fixed at a selected location along a mill center line(CL). First and second work rolls(30a, 30b) are configured and arranged to roll products directed therebetween. The first work roll has roll necks(32a) journalled for rotation in bearings(34a, 34b) contained in first chocks(36a), and the second work roll likewise has roll necks journalled for rotation in bearings contained in second chocks(36b), with the first and second chocks of the work rolls being arranged in pairs located on opposite sides of the mill center line. The first and second chocks of each pair are connected to the support structure for pivotal movement respectively about parallel first and second connecting axes which extend in parallel relationship with respect to the axes of the rolls and orthogonally with respect to the mill center line. An adjustment mechanism is provided for simultaneously pivoting the first and second chocks of each pair in opposite directions about their respective connecting axes in order to symmetrically adjust the parting between the work rolls.
