PURPOSE: A float bath for manufacturing a glass plate and a method for shaping float glass are provided to confirm precise operating conditions according to the state of a glass ribbon regardless of installing spaces by a plurality of thermocouples on a roof block. CONSTITUTION: A float bath(100) for manufacturing a glass plate includes a bottom block(110), a roof block(120), and a plurality of thermocouples(150). Molten metals are stored in the bottom block. The roof block covers the bottom block. The thermocouples are embedded in the roof block in order to measure the temperature of the roof block and to controls the temperature gradient in a float chamber(106). Molten glass is consecutively supplied over the molten metals. The molten glass is shaped into a glass ribbon. The glass ribbon is drawn from the float bath.

CONSTITUTION: A glass substrate is manufactured by successively supplying molten glass on a molten metal(S100), and cooling the molten glass floated on the molten metal. A curved surface with the width of 10~30 millimeters is formed on the glass substrate. A manufacturing method of a display device including the glass substrate comprises the following steps: forming the curved surface on the glass substrate; and forming at least one of an upper substrate or a lower substrate using the glass substrate.

The barriers are equipped in between the predetermined heater among multiple heaters and block the heat transmission. The heaters supply different calorie to one or more heaters. The barriers are equipped in between the heater which supplies the different calorie. The barriers comprises as a plate form. The length is adjustable to upper and lower direction in the barriers, and the angle of at least one part of the barriers is adjustable. The down side end part of the barriers is curved. A temperature measuring part which measures the inner temperature of the float bath is included in the float bath.

A heater comprises a metal bath(3) and heaters(20, 20a~20e) arranged on a float bath tub(2) having a float bath starting part(9a) and a float bath end part(9b). The two or more heaters(20, 20a~20e) arranged on the float bath tub(2) are offset over 10% of a center-to-center distance LM of the heaters which are put in a traverse direction. A method of fabricating glass sheets (13) is provided in which the sheets are cut from a glass ribbon (15) composed of a glass having a glass transition temperature range (GTTR). The ribbon (15) is formed by a drawing process in which edge rollers (27a,27b) contact the glass ribbon (15) at a location along the length of the ribbon where the temperature along the center line (17) of the ribbon (15) is above the GTTR. The edge rollers (27a,27b) locally cool the ribbon (15), and the cooling produces a sine wave type buckling (S warp) along the edges of the glass sheets (13). The S warp is reduced or eliminated by heating the bead portions (21a, 21b) of the ribbon (15) and/or portions of the ribbon (the S warp portions 25a and 25b) which are located next to the bead portions (21a, 21b) and/or by cooling the center portion of the ribbon (15) at at least one location along the length of the ribbon (15) where the temperature at the ribbon's center line (17) is within the GTTR.

Disclosed are a float bath and a float manufacturing process enabling to shape a glass with a high forming temperature without shortening the life of a strap for feeding power to a heater. A float bath (10) comprises a bottom unit (12) holding a molten tin (11) and a roof unit (14) covering the bottom unit (12). The space inside the roof unit (14) is divided by a roof brick layer (16) into an upper space (20) and a lower space (21). A heater (18) is so arranged as to pass through a through hole (17) which is formed in the roof brick layer (16). The thickness of the roof brick layer (16) is not less than 320 mm.
