摘要: A vapor collection system that can be used at an extra-terrestrial body is envisioned to collect target gaseous atoms and molecules that are floating around in a shielded environment at a pressure at or less than 1×10−5 bar. The shielded environment is defined within sidewalls and in some cases is defined within a cover. A condensation surface in the shielded environment is maintained at a temperature between 2° Kelvin and 100° Kelvin to collect the target gas that is floating around, which condenses on the condensation surface as a liquid. A collection receptacle at the condensation surface collects the liquid. A heating element in the shielded environment is made to heat and release the target gas from minerals at or beyond the rim. The gas floats around in the shielded environment.

摘要: A non-ventilator ET tube cap used to oxygenate a patient during an intubation procedure. The ET tube cap generally comprises an oxygen source connector configured to connect to an oxygen source via an oxygen tube. This provides oxygen to a patient via an ET tube while being intubated. The ET tube cap further includes an ET tube receiving aperture that is specifically arranged to engage an ET tube in a removable relationship prior to the ET tube connected to a ventilator while the ET tube is deployed in a patient. Optionally, the ET tube cap can comprise a pressure relief valve that opens when pressure inside of the ET tube cap exceeds a predetermined pressure threshold to prevent harm to the patient that is being intubated.

摘要: A sutureless chest tube adhesion assembly configured to quickly and easily anchor a chest tube is described. The assembly generally comprises a notched flexible substrate adapted to adhere to human skin 415. A chest tube incision in a notched region of the substrate provides an entry point for the chest tube which is anchored to the substrate by way of an intermediate flexible membrane that covers and adheres to the chest tube and substrate. The intermediate flexible membrane has a matching notched region adapted to accommodate the chest tube. The chest tube and incision are adapted to be covered by a transparent cover sheet which covers and adheres to a portion of the substrate, the intermediate flexible membrane and to a portion of the human skin 415.

摘要: The disclosed anti-contagion facemask embodiments are a family of transparent facemasks that do not obstruct visibility of a person's mouth when worn. One problem with a typical, widely used, facemask is the difficulty in understanding a person speaking when they are wearing the typical facemask. Not only does the listener have to contend with the muffled speech of a person talking through a facemask, communication is made worse by covering up, or otherwise hiding the wearer's mouth and face with opaque filter material. Accordingly, some embodiments described herein present a clear/see-through filtration mask embodiment that does not visibly obstruct a person's mouth by providing a filtration system along or near the periphery of the facemask.

摘要: A rib retention training assembly that is beneficial for training and practicing chest tube insertion and other invasive rib surgical procedures is envisioned to incorporate a portion of an animal rib cage covered by a synthetic sheet of human-like skin. One embodiment contemplates an apparatus comprising three framed plates each with an aperture in the center, much like a picture frame. When assembled, the synthetic sheet of human-like skin is sandwiched between a first outer framed plate and a center framed plate such that the synthetic sheet is covering the respective apertures, and the portion of the animal rib cage is sandwiched between the center frame plate and a second outer framed plate such that the rib cage is covering the respective apertures. This assembly provides a chest prop with a realistic feel for surgical simulations.

摘要: An endotracheal tube apparatus with improved deployment and long-term comfort to a patient generally includes a cap mechanism that can direct enriched oxygen towards the patient's lungs while the endotracheal tube apparatus is being inserted in a patient's trachea. Once the endotracheal tube is fully inserted in the trachea, the cap mechanism can be made to redirect the enriched oxygen to inflate an inflatable cuff integrated with the endotracheal tube thereby blocking off the vocal cord region in the patient and stabilizing the endotracheal tube in the trachea. When the cuff is inflated, the cap mechanism can be made to ventilate the patient.
