Abstract: A machinery mount for supporting at least a portion of a load on a substructure, and for correcting out-of-level conditions and absorption of horizontal forces. The mount includes a horizontally disposed, discoidal member having a substantially planar horizontal surface and an opposed surface having a first spherical segment for complementary registration with a seat having a second spherical segment of opposite curvature to the first spherical segment to allow the discoidal member to swivel on the seat along the arc defined by the second spherical segment. A rigid member is disposed beneath the discoidal member, and a resilient member is disposed beneath the rigid member and adaptable for disposition adjacent the substructure. A second, substantially horizontally disposed member is disposed adjacent the discoidal member in the horizontal plane and free to move laterally as a result of a horizontal force, and a retaining means at least partially circumscribes the second horizontally disposed member and is spaced therefrom for limiting the lateral movement of the second horizontally disposed member.

Abstract: An improved machinery mount for supporting a load on a substructure such as a building floor, having a support member engagable with at least a portion of said load, and a bearing member disposed beneath said support member and spaced therefrom. A damper disposed between the bearing member and the substructure includes a plurality of compressible resilient members and at least one rigid member interposed between the resilient members, the uppermost resilient member disposed adjacent the bearing member and the lowermost resilient member disposed adjacent the substructure. The resilient members, being preferably rubber or plastic, are bonded to the adjacent rigid member, preferably being a metal. Preferably, the damper is secured to the bearing member, and the bearing member is secured to the support member, the three components thereby forming an integral unit.

Abstract: A mounting system comprising an adjustment means adaptable for assuming a load, a supporting member and a bearing member in spaced relationship, and a compressible resilient member is disposed in supporting relationship with the bearing member. A portable fluidic cylinder is adaptable for connection and disconnection to a fluid source means, and an opening between the bearing member and the supporting member, such as an opening in a side wall of the supporting member, is of sufficient size to accommodate the cylinder. The fluidic cylinder is portable and adaptable for interposition between the bearing member and the supporting member and extendable to space the supporting member in a direction away from the bearing member without reducing deflection or compression of the resilient member, thereby permitting adjustment of extremely heavy loads. After any desired adjustment has been accomplished, the fluidic cylinder is deactivated and subsequently removed from the mounting system, without reducing deflection of the resilient member.

Abstract: An adjustable mounting is provided for use between the foot of a machine and the floor where the machine is located, as well as a method for adjusting the height of the foot. The mounting comprises a bearing member and a compressible cushion member which supports the bearing member, as well as an adjustable member which maintains the bearing member in spaced relation with the supporting member. A lifting member is interposed between the bearing member and the supporting member and is extendable to move the supporting member away from the bearing member without reducing the deflection of the cushion member. The portion of the adjustable member between the bearing member and the supporting member may be readily altered while the load of the machine is borne by the lifting member. A series of the mountings may be located beneath the several feet of the machine, and their height adjustments coordinated to assure levelness of the machine bed without deflection of the bed or stressing the machine with a change of attitude.

Abstract: A viscous damper for a machinery mount having a damping member disposed intermediate a top support engageable with at least a portion of a load and a bottom plate disposed beneath the support and spaced therefrom to thereby decrease or deaden vibrations. The damper includes a receptacle for vertical disposition, which is closed at the bottom and opened at the top, and is adaptable for containing a viscous fluid. A plunger of smaller lateral dimensions is arranged concentrically and co-axially within the receptacle, and depends downwardly from the horizontally disposed support, and is of such a longitudinal dimension as to be spaced from the closed bottom of the receptacle so as to be submerged partially in the viscous fluid and is therefore free to move vertically. A perforated plate is affixed at the bottom of the plunger, and provides fluid communication between the receptacle and the plunger. The damping effected by the vibrations will force the viscous medium through the apertures in the bottom plate in one direction or the other.
