    Abstract: An adjustable mounting is provided for use between the foot of a machine and the floor where the machine is located, as well as a method for adjusting the height of the foot. The mounting comprises a bearing member and a compressible cushion member which supports the bearing member, as well as an adjustable member which maintains the bearing member in spaced relation with the supporting member. A lifting member is interposed between the bearing member and the supporting member and is extendable to move the supporting member away from the bearing member without reducing the deflection of the cushion member. The portion of the adjustable member between the bearing member and the supporting member may be readily altered while the load of the machine is borne by the lifting member. A series of the mountings may be located beneath the several feet of the machine, and their height adjustments coordinated to assure levelness of the machine bed without deflection of the bed or stressing the machine with a change of attitude.

    Abstract: There is disclosed a power assisted adjustment system for a power assuming or bearing a load member in a desired condition, comprising an actuator in combination with an adjustment member adaptable for assuming a load, and a hydraulic cylinder for temporarily reducing the load on the adjustment member, thereby permitting adjustment of extremely heavy loads with a nominal input force to the actuator. The actuator is operably engagable with the adjustment means and movable relative to the adjustment member. Electric switch operably connected with the actuator actuates the cylinder between an activating position and non-activating position, thereby permitting adjustment of the adjustment member in response to movement of the actuator in the activating condition. An input force or torque applied to the actuator effects a desired adjustment of the adjustment member. When the input force is stopped or interrupted, the actuator is biased to a non-activating position. The cylinder is deactivated and ceases to assume the portion of the load taken up, and that portion of the load is returned or transferred back to the adjustment member.

    Abstract: A system of vibration-absorbing, height-adjustable, force-sensing components, adapted to be incorporated in support members of a unit of industrial equipment to enable precise alignment and balancing of such equipment, to minimize noise generated thereby and to achieve greater precision and efficiency by fine tuning the performance thereof.     Abstract: A vibration isolator of the type used for mounting industrial equipment, having the capability of measuring forces exerted upon the isolator to adjust the support provided by each of the isolators upon which the equipment is mounted so as to provide the most suitable distribution of support and to reduce the transmission of dynamic forces created by the operation of the equipment. The isolator comprises a resilient base, a bearing plate on the base and a sensing device cooperating therewith, with or without means for attaching the isolator to the equipment. A force applied to the isolator exerts pressure on the bearing plate which is transmitted therethrough to the resilient base causing each of them to experience some deformation. The sensing device detects the pressure or deformation caused by the force applied to the isolator and generates a signal corresponding to said force. The signal is transmitted to indicating instruments suitably calibrated to show the static and dynamic forces to which both the equipment and foundation are subjected, as well as the weight and center of gravity of the equipment.
