    摘要: A multi-layer panel for use as structural sheathing with a coating that is both fire resistant and water resistant. The multi-layer panel may be a wood structural panel, such as OSB or plywood. The coating provides building-code-compliant fire resistance characteristics. The coating also acts as a water resistant barrier (WRB) layer on a surface of the panel. The joint fire-resistant and water-resistant barrier (FR/WRB) coating may be applied to one or both faces of the panel at the manufacturing facility, prior to shipping or installation at a job site. The coating may also be applied to panel edges.

    摘要: A method and system for removing material build-up, including, but not limited to, boric acid or boric acid-based material, on a press platen. A thermosetting resin is deposited on the upper surface of a manufactured wood chip or strand mat, which is then subjected to heat and pressure in a press. During pressing, the build-up material on the press platen(s) will soften and/or melt, and will adhere to the to thermosetting resin on the top of the mat. After pressing, as the formed panels are removed from the press, the boric acid build-up adhering to the thermosetting resin is pulled off the press platens and is removed with the formed panels. The panels with the buildup may then be processed for appropriate uses or dispositions.

    摘要: A one-handed tool for use in application of seam tape or seaming tape. The device has a frame with an upper support with an ergonomic grip, with a finger guard or shield extending across the front of the grip to protect the user’s fingers. A primary roller support and a secondary roller support extend downward from upper support. Each roller support comprises a pair of parallel arms extending downward at angles behind and in front of the upper support when in use, supporting a primary roller and a secondary roller, respectively. The primary roller is used to apply pressure to the seaming tape, while the secondary roller is used for stability and to apply additional pressure to the edges of the seaming tape.

The lower profiled edge of the siding is modified proximate the ends during manufacture or in a factory setting to create a modified section configured to mate with a unique piece of factory-produced or pre-made flashing of similar or matching profile. The flashing piece fits with the ends of the adjacent siding boards in a horizontal row and aligns with the profile of the locking edges of vertically adjacent siding boards so the system sheds water effectively and prevents water from penetrating behind the siding. In addition, the factory-modified siding and the pre-manufactured flashing pieces may be supplied as a ready-to-install system that simplifies the siding installation process and shortens the time and cost of installation.

    摘要: A system and methods for manufacturing and constructing a fence panel or pickets using engineered wood products, including, but not limited to, oriented-strand board (OSB), fiber strand, or laminated strand lumber. An entire piece of durable, treated engineered wood panel is divided into multiple “fence blanks” of equal size. Each fence blank is then subjected to edge profiling on top and bottom edges, and top feature milling to create fence top features, with finishing, texture, printing, paper overlay, or combinations thereof, added to one or both faces of the blank. Blanks may be milled in a stack. Blanks may then have grooves or other finishing features added to create a finished fence panel. Alternatively, a fence blank can be slit or cut into multiple raw pickets, also with finishing treatments to one or both faces, to create a series of raw pickets. The resulting finished fence panel or pickets provide the authentic look and appeal of real wood, but with the advantages of treated engineered wood.
