    Abstract: A video management system (VMS) including a recording server configured for receiving and storing a plurality of data streams and respective metadata streams, each data stream being supplied by, or associated with, respective ones of a plurality of streaming devices;



    a processing unit configured to receive data via a data communication interface, and further configured to:
    responsive to a trigger event, select a streaming device of the plurality of streaming devices, where the selected streaming device is associated with the trigger event,
    obtain position data associated with the selected streaming device, and
    determine a textual position description based on the position data of the selected streaming device at a time associated with the trigger event, wherein the textual position description describing a geographical position in a natural human language form with a common language syntax,
    wherein the VMS is configured to provide the textual position description.

    Abstract: A method for setting parameters values of a video source device comprising obtaining a value of an image characteristic for a current image generated by the video source device set with initial parameters values; determining a satisfaction level for the image characteristic of the current image based on the obtained value, the satisfaction level representing a probability to fulfil a task; obtaining a set of candidates, a candidate being defined as a set of parameters values; for each candidate, predicting an evolution of the satisfaction level for the image characteristic relatively to the satisfaction level determined while the video source device is set with the initial parameters values; selecting a candidate based on its predicted evolution of the satisfaction level; setting the parameters values of the video source device using the set of parameters values of the selected candidate.

    Abstract: A video surveillance system includes an on-premises system with a plurality of servers running video management software including server components and a plurality of agents running independently from the server components. The on-premises system enables remote communication with the on-premises system, where each agent enables updates/upgrades of at least one server component, and a cloud-based system bidirectionally communicating with the on-premises system via a first communication channel. The video surveillance system establishes a plurality of second communication channels that establish a connection between at least one agent associated with at least one server component and the cloud-based system. The agents use information obtained via the first communication channel to establish the second communication channels. The video surveillance system transmits, from the cloud-based system to the on-premises system, software updates/upgrades, and instructs installation of the transmitted software updates/upgrades in a predetermined sequence using the plurality of second communication channels.

    Abstract: A video processing apparatus configured to process a stream of video surveillance data, wherein the video surveillance data includes metadata associated with video data, the metadata describing at least one object in the video data. The apparatus comprises means for applying an image assessment algorithm to generate a reliability score for the metadata, and associating the reliability score with the metadata. The image assessment algorithm generates the reliability score based on an assessment of the image quality of the video data to which the metadata relates to indicate a likelihood that the metadata accurately describes the object. An image enhancement module applies image enhancement to video data if the reliability score of metadata associated with the video data indicates a low likelihood that the metadata accurately describes the object.
