摘要： When a user gets interested in some music he/she listens to somewhere, for example, in a coffee shop, the user records that music in a memory provided in a portable terminal. A processor reads the information recorded in the memory and performs a predetermined process on it. The resultant information is stored on a storage device. The information stored on the storage device is then transferred to a remote server via a communication device. The remote server searches the database for the title of the music corresponding to the received information and returns the results to the terminal. Thus, the user can easily get information about the title of the music.

摘要： The invention relates to a method of giving the user information on the operation of a portable device, and a portable device. In the method, an event that concerns the operation of the device and interests the user is detected (302) by the control means of the device. If at least one silent alarm pattern producing a tactile sensation in the user is attached to the event, the user is given (312) abstract information on the operation of the device by using at least one silent alarm pattern implemented with the alarm device and sensed by the user. Various alarm patterns differ from one another such that at least one alarm pattern characteristic sensed by the user varies. The characteristic can be the alarm pattern frequency, amplitude, changing rate of the amplitude, changing rate of the frequency or duration of the alarm pattern. One way to perform a silent alarm is vibration. The user interface is particularly intended for users with impaired hearing and/or vision.

When any icon thus generated is selected from a plurality of icons displayed on the second display region, the task associated with the selected icon is restored and displayed in the first display region.

The operation block includes a circuit at a surface of the housing configured to detect a first user manual gesture in a first direction approximately parallel to the housing surface, a second user manual gesture in a direction opposite to the first direction and also approximately parallel to the housing surface, and a third user manual gesture in a direction that is perpendicular to the housing surface. The first and second gestures are used to select a particular one of the one or more pieces of sound data, and reproduction of a particular piece of sound data occurs in response to the third gesture.
