A receiver dryer includes a canister with a cylindrical sidewall, a lower end wall, and an open upper end. An inlet tube extends upwardly in the canister from an inlet port in the lower end wall. A desiccant tube assembly, comprising a pair of tubes, is received over the inlet tube, with the inlet tube being closely received in one of the tubes of the desiccant tube assembly. A lower baffle is formed unitary with the lower end of the desiccant tube assembly, and a lower filter pad is received over the desiccant tube assembly and against the lower baffle. Loose desiccant is then poured into the canister. An upper filter pad and upper baffle are received over the desiccant tube assembly. A pick-up tube, secured to an upper end cap, is then closely received in the other of the tubes of the desiccant tube assembly. The upper end cap is then secured to the upper end of the canister.

A receiver/dryer (10) includes a canister (12) with a cylindrical sidewall (13), an integral lower end (14), and an open upper end (16). A pick-up tube (18) is disposed centrally within the canister. According to one aspect, the lower end (19) of the pick-up tube has a wedged-shape and which is supported by the lower end of the canister. The upper end (20) of the pick-up tube has an annular groove (21) which carries an O-ring seal (22). A lower baffle (23) and lower filter pad (40) are received over the pick-up tube with the lower baffle having a tight slip-fit therewith; loose desiccant (24) is introduced into the canister and supported by the lower baffle and filter pad; and then an upper filter pad (50) and upper baffle (44) are received over the pick-up tube, with the upper baffle having a slip-fit therewith. An upper end cap (60) is then secured to the open end of the canister, with the pick-up tube being received within an outlet passage (64) in the upper end cap and a fluid-tight seal being provided between the pick-up tube (70) and the end cap by the O-ring seal. According to another aspect, a desiccant tube is disposed in fluid-tight relation around the pick-up tube and extends between the lower baffle and the upper baffle. The lower baffle has a fluid-tight fit with the desiccant tube, and preferably has an annular bead (72) and annular flange (74) on the desiccant tube retaining the baffle to the tube. In this further aspect, the pick-up tube can be connected off-center to the end cap, and then bent or curved so as to be aligned with the desiccant tube. In either aspect, the desiccant material can be loose fill, which reduces the over-all cost of the receiver/dryer.

The network element has a first component, a second component and at least two communication links. The communication links are adapted to provide a first connection and a second connection between the first component and the second component. The system includes, for each communication link of the at least two communication links connected to the first component and adapted to provide the first connection and the second connection, a detection module adapted to monitor a given communication link for an error. The system also includes, for each communication link connected to the second component and adapted to provide the first connection and the second connection, another detection module adapted to monitor another given communication link for an error. The system further includes a collection module communicating with each the detection module to collect information about any errors detected thereby and to provide a status report of each communication link.

An accumulating vessel for use in a refrigeration system wherein a partially vaporized refrigerant is circulated therethrough. The vessel is constructed as a generally cylindrical housing having first and second end portions, and a body portion with a generally continuous circumferential inner surface, the portions together defining an internal chamber. An inlet tube opens into fluid communication with the internal chamber at a first location defining an inlet port, with an outlet tube opening into fluid communication with the internal chamber at a second location defining an outlet port. A baffle is received within the chamber intermediate the inlet and outlet ports for deflecting refrigerant from the inlet port over the outlet port. An outer surface of the baffle extends to an outer periphery configured to define at least a pair of contact surfaces with the inner surface of the body portion of the housing, and spacing the remainder of the periphery of the baffle a predetermined radial distance from the inner surface of the housing for the flow of refrigerant therebetween. The baffle is formed of a metal material having a layer of a metal alloy coated thereon forming at least a portion of the outer surface of the baffle including the contact surfaces. The metal alloy coating layer of the baffle is brazed to the inner surface of the housing along at least a portion of each of the contact surfaces joining the baffle to the housing.

A refrigerant assembly includes a refrigerant housing for receiving and containing refrigerant. In one embodiment, the housing has an upper end cap extending over and covering an open upper end of the housing to define a central cavity for the refrigerant. The upper end cap has a bore extending from an inner surface of the end cap to the outer surface. A pick-up tube extends inwardly into the bore from the inner surface of the end cap and is dimensioned so as to be closely received therein. The pick-up tube includes an annular bead toward its outlet end which is received within a counterbore formed coaxial with the bore from the inner surface of the end cap. The counterbore is dimensioned to closely receive the bead on the pick-up tube. The inner surface of the end cap surrounding the counterbore is then mechanically deformed, preferably by staking, around the entire circumference of the pick-up tube such that end cap material is forced radially inward toward the tube. The end cap material at least partially encloses the pick-up tube bead within the counterbore to secure the pick-up tube to the end cap. Moreover, a sharp edge between the counterbore and bore is forced against the junction between the bead and the pick-up tube to provide a fluid tight seal.
