Abstract: A control system for an electrical switching apparatus adapted to be installed in a medium voltage or high voltage electrical circuit. The control system includes at least a first module with first control means which are adapted to execute a first control logic, and a second module with second control means which are adapted to execute a second control logic; and at least one communication bus. The first control means and the second control means are adapted to be operatively connected to the at least one communication bus, and to share values of variables associated to the first control logic and to the second control logic through the at least one communication bus.

Abstract: The invention relates to a control unit for a medium voltage switching apparatus. The control unit is adapted to carry out a diagnostic method to check operating conditions of one or more components of said electric poles. The diagnostic method includes the following steps: basing on a selected ideal position curve, obtaining one or more first curves indicative of an ideal behaviour of said switching apparatus, during an opening manoeuvre or closing manoeuvre of the switching apparatus; basing on detection signals provided by a closed-loop control arrangement of said control unit, calculating one or more second curves indicative of an actual behaviour of said switching apparatus, during an opening manoeuvre or closing manoeuvre of said switching apparatus; and carrying out a comparison procedure among said first and second curves.

Abstract: The invention relates to a medium voltage switching apparatus. The medium voltage switching apparatus includes one or more electric poles, each electrically coupleable with a corresponding electric line; for each electric pole, a fixed contact and a movable contact, the movable contact being reversibly movable between a decoupled position from the fixed contact and a coupled position with the fixed contact, the movable contact moving from the decoupled position to the coupled position during an closing manoeuvre of the switching apparatus and moving from the coupled position to the decoupled position during an opening manoeuvre of the switching apparatus; and actuating means adapted to actuate the movable contacts of the one or more electric poles. A control unit is adapted to select and carry out a selectable control routine in response to receiving an input signal at an input arrangement corresponding to the selectable routine.

Abstract: A switching device for an electric circuit, the switching device comprising: at least one phase having a movable contact which can be coupled to/separated from a corresponding fixed contact; a kinematic chain operatively associated to the movable contact; driving means adapted to move the kinematic chain between a first position and a second position for actuating the movable contact; and control means adapted to control the driving means. The kinematic chain is adapted to reach the second position from the first position before reaching a dead-point position, and the control means are adapted to: detect a loss condition of a power supply associable to and suitable for operating the switching device, while the kinematic chain is in the second position; and control the driving means to move the kinematic chain away from the second position when the loss condition is detected, in such a way that the kinematic chain passes through the dead-point position and reaches a third position between the dead-point position and corresponding blocking means of the switching device.
