Abstract:
Grinding mills for wood wherein the wood is fed to a grinding stone require regulation to produce pulp of good quality. A signal measuring the friction coefficient between the wood and grinding stone is derived and this signal controls the wood feeding to keep the friction coefficient constant.
Abstract:
An arrangement for determining moisture content, surface weight or other properties of travelling paper webs includes two detectors, at least one of which is arranged stationarily at one side of the path of the web, along with a comparison device to which the detectors are connected. Light is supplied to the fixed detector by a stationary mirror, and to the other detector by a mirror system which is movable across the web.
Abstract:
In order to determine the thickness of a web of paper which is being wound on rolls, the temperature profile in the web is measured transversely as the web is rolled up to indicate the thickness. A second temperature profile is also measured at a point located ahead of the roll and a moisture profile is also registered ahead of the roll. Some of these signals or their combinations are used to control the mechanism.
