Abstract:
A winding for an electrical machine enclosed in a casing is provided with an arrangement for measuring the temperature which includes a thermocouple having its hot junction attached to the conductor of the winding at the point where the temperature is to be measured. The conductors of the thermocouple are attached to the winding conductor and to the lead-in conductor and follow the lead-in conductor outside of the casing to a point where a definable temperature prevails, at which point the cold junction of the thermocouple is located.
Abstract:
For supervising the filling level in an elongated space, such as hoppers, shafts, silos and the like, for miscellaneous granular material, the movement of the material is transformed into vibrations and the vibrations are converted into indicating signals which indicate the filling level. This may be accomplished by a plurality of rods which extend through the wall of the space and are subjected to the vibrations produced by solid materials falling through the space. This may be done by providing rods which extend beyond the wall into the space, and by accelerometers or the like which detect the vibrations and convert them into electrical signals which may control the discharge from the shaft.
Abstract:
For limiting the dynamic overreach in impedance relays, there is provided a first comparator for comparing the condition of two periodic alternating quantities which delivers a signal of a definite appearance when a primary condition is fulfilled, and a second comparator which delivers a signal when a secondary condition is fulfilled. The second condition is a limitation of the primary condition. The two comparators are connected to each other to transmit a tripping signal when the primary condition is fulfilled at two consecutive measuring opportunities and when the secondary condition is fulfilled at any measuring opportunity. The primary condition is theta 1
Abstract:
For measuring the axle load in a stationary axle of a vehicle, strain sensing transducers are arranged in mechanical contact with the axle in an area between the wheel bearings and attachments for the load-transferring members. When the vehicle is equipped with brakes, the transducers are placed on opposite sides of a member for transmitting the braking torque which is connected to the axle.
Abstract:
In order to determine the direction of a fault in a power network from the measuring point, each phase of the line is provided with a detector part with a band exclusion filter for removing the part of a signal which has the operating frequency of the network, which signal is proportional to the current at the measuring point, and another band exclusion filter for removing the part of another signal which has the operating frequency of the network, which is proportional to the voltage at the measuring point. A directional detector is fed with the two filtered signals which contain substantially only transients. The output of the directional detector is connected to a tripping relay and a blocking relay.
Abstract:
For punching sheet segments having substantially annular sector shape, with two radially directed sides, a sheet metal strip of constant width is fed through a punching device which punches out the segments of the desired shape one by one. The sheet metal strip has a width which is more than the air gap radius but less than twice the maximum outer radius of the core. The punching tool is punched in such a way that the cutting edge which forms one of the radially directed sides is parallel to and close to one longitudinal edge of the strip. The unpunched portion of the strip is coiled on a winder-recoiler. After the strip has been fed through in one direction, the position of the strip with respect to the punch (or vice versa) is reversed, and the strip is fed in the other direction through the punch, which punches out similar shaped pieces from the remaining portion of the strip.
Abstract:
A mechanical brake for the driving device of a tap changer includes a brake disc and cooperating brake shoes. A control disc driven simultaneously with the brake disc has two parts of different radius, the higher parts of which can engage against a roller journalled on a lever which is pivoted on the shaft which controls the contact device supplying current to the driving motor. The roller carrying lever also has pivoted to it a link connected to a control rod which passes between the brake shoes and has thinner and thicker parts. Rollers journalled on the brake shoes engage this rod, so that when it is moved in either direction from a median position by the rocking of the lever it pushes the brake shoes apart and releases the braking action.
Abstract:
In isostatic hot pressing of powder in a collapsible container, the powder is enclosed in a container which is provided with one or more evacuation openings, and a conical support is held in position adjacent the evacuation openings. A funnel-shaped body of sheet metal is secured above the support and the evacuation openings by welding its edge to the wall of the container. The body is evacuated through a suction tube connected to the funnel and the tube is sealed. Thereafter the container is subjected to heat and pressure, and the funnel-shaped member collapses into engagement with the conical support.
Abstract:
A high voltage direct current interrupting arrangement consists of two electrical switches connected in series. One of the switching devices is a commutating circuit breaker which is connected in parallel with a series connection of a capacitor and a spark gap. A surge diverter is also connected in parallel with the commutating circuit breaker. The surge diverter takes over the current and breaks it during a breaking operation whereafter the other switching device is opened to isolate the circuit.
Abstract:
In manufacturing tubes of compound material by hydrostatic extrusion through a die, the front end of the billet is formed with a taper to fit the conical inlet of the die. The mating line between the lower ends of the core and the casing is within the die, so that when extrusion starts only the casing is in contact with the die and only the core with the mandrel. This prevents any possible entry of pressure fluid between the core and the casing.
