摘要: An indirect extrusion press including a die assembly having a loose die detachably mounted on a die stem and axially movable relative to a billet container for extruding a billet through a die hole, and a die handling mechanism for transferring the die assembly between the press center and a position outside the press machine, the indirect extrusion press including a reduced diameter portion provided in the rear end portion of the die stem and defining a stepped wall portion; a loose die detachably mounted on the end face of the reduced diameter portion; and a detachable cleaning ring loosely fitted on the reduced diameter portion of the die stem in abutting engagement with the stepped wall portion and in axially spaced relation with the loose die, the cleaning ring being in sliding engagement with the inner periphery of the billet container in the extruding phase of the press operation to remove container shells. The press may further include as part of the die handling mechanism a chuck member for releasably gripping the loose die and cleaning ring and movable for transferring the die and ring in spaced relation between the press center and a retracted position outside the press machine, and a knocking member movable into the space between the loose die and cleaning ring at the retracted position to knock off container shells from a gap between the loose die and the cleaning ring.

摘要: A billet scalper including a die assembly with a scalping die, a pressing mechanism with a stem member in axial alignment with the scalping die for pressing a billet thereinto, and a chip ejector located around the circumference of the scalping die and movable axially back and forth beyond a free end face of the scalping die to remove chips therefrom. The die assembly including the scalping die is movable between a position at the center of the scalper and an outer receded position to permit easy maintenance and service of the die assembly including replacements and cleaning of scalping dies. In a preferred form, the scalper is constructed integrally with an extrusion press to perform the billet scalping operation in timed relation with the extruding operation to shorten the time of press cycle.

摘要: An indirect extrusion press including a press frame body of the Rahmen structure. The press frame body is formed of a press platen and a main cylinder frame, which are rigidly connected together. Movably disposed between the press platen and main cylinder frame is a container adapted to retain a billet therein. A die stem fixedly extends toward the container from the platen while a pressing stem slidably extends toward the container from the main cylinder frame. Hydraulic cylinders are provided with the platen to shift the container back and forth along the longitudinal center line of the press. Hydraulic coupling cylinders are also provided with a crosshead from which the pressing stem extends and the pistons of both cylinders are connected to their respective container holders. The relative position of the container and pressing stem is maintained constant during an extrusion stroke so that the container-shifting force is added to an extrusion force. An effective scalping operation of the container is performed by using not only the container-shifting cylinders but also the coupling cylinders. An intermediate frame may also be slidably provided on the die stem such that the shifting force for the intermediate frame may also be added to the extrusion force or scalping force. The extra extrusion force is received by the container and its related moving members, thereby enabling use of the press frame body without reinforcement and allowing a reduction in the total number of parts and weight necessary, and simplification of the press.

摘要: An indirect extrusion press in which a seal block (16) is provided with a disc portion (18) to be fitted in a billet receiving bore (25) of a container (24) and is also provided with a cylindrical portion (19) contiguous to the disc portion (18) and having an outside diameter larger than the billet receiving bore (25) which is provided at the fore end of a pressure stem (15), and a die stem (21) is disposed in front of and coaxially with the pressure stem (15). Billet (V) is loaded onto an axis of the press by means of a billet loader (29), then charged into the billet receiving bore (25) of the container (24) from the pressure stem (15) side and then extruded through the die stem (21) in a state wherein one end of the billet receiving bore (25) of the container (24) is closed with the seal block (16). A plurality of circumferentially spaced notches (20) are formed in the press axis direction on the outer periphery of the cylindrical portion (19) of the seal block (16), both the container (24) and the billet loader (29) are movable toward the pressure stem (15), and a billet support portion (35) provided at the fore end of the billet loader (29) is formed with projections (39) adapted to engage the notches (20) and be guided thereby, the projections (39) being formed in the press axis direction.
