    Abstract: A fiber routing system including a plurality of two/multi fiber cables terminated at each end a two/multi fiber connector, wherein each of the two/multi fiber cables is a key up to key down arrangement; a plurality of two/multi fiber adapters each connecting two of the two/multi fiber connectors of two two/multi fiber cables, wherein the two two/multi fiber cables are connected end to end, wherein each of the two/multi fiber adapters have a key up to key down arrangement. The cables connect first equipment and to second equipment. A plurality of transition cable arrays can be included, each including a plurality of optical fibers, wherein a plurality of two/multi fiber connectors are at the first end, and wherein at least one MPO fiber connector is at the second end. MPO fiber adapters having a key up to key up arrangement, and a multi fiber trunk cable array is terminated at each end by an MPO fiber connector, wherein the multi fiber trunk cable array has a key up to key up arrangement, the multi fiber trunk cable array being connected to two of the MPO fiber adapters.

    Abstract: The invention is directed to the characterization of an optical channel, such as an optical fiber, in an optical network. The method includes calibrating a transmitter by measuring its transmitter and dispersion eye closure (TDEC, in the case of non-return to zero optical (NRZ) optical systems or transmitter and dispersion eye closure quaternary (TDECQ, in the case of 4-level pulse amplitude modulation (PAM4) optical systems). That calibrated transmitter is used to characterize the optical channel being tested by providing a measure of its stressed eye closure (SEC) or stressed eye closure quaternary (SECQ). A loss deficit for the optical channel can be calculated by subtracting the SEC or SECQ value from the maximum TDEC or TDECQ value.

Some types of cabling arrangements include one or more distribution modules, at least two distribution cables, and a plurality of duplex cables. Other types of cabling arrangement include one or more distribution modules, at least two distribution cables, two configuration modules, a plurality of configuration cables, and a plurality of duplex cables. The cabling arrangement may be passive and/or colorless.
