    摘要: An improved method and apparatus for preventing electrical shorts between sets of stator coil headers and accompanying connections is disclosed in which a reinforced, non-conducting cover is fitted over a pair of stator coil headers, or a stator coil header and an adjacent phase connector. Thereafter, the cavity formed by the fitted cover can be filled with an insulating, solidifying or polymerizing material or resin. Use of such an apparatus insulates the entire header apparatus and prevents any accidental shorting between sets of stator coil ends.

    摘要: A mechanical clamping assembly and method for clamping coils at stator end windings of large steam turbine generators is provided for generators of the type which inhibit access to at least one side of coils to be clamped. The apparatus includes a precured radial band clamp having an anchor assembly which can be latched into position from radially inward of the generator. The method includes forming the precured band clamp in attachment to the anchor assembly, inserting the clamp and anchor assembly into position in the generator, inserting a pin into the clamp at its radially inward end, pulling on the pin to tension the clamp and inserting shims under the pin to maintain the tension.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for compressing a stator core assembly of an electric generator having a plurality of stacked punchings positioned between opposing compression plates. A through-bolt is passed through an aperture drilled through the stacked punchings, and a tensioning nut threaded onto one end of the through-bolt. A thrust nut is threaded onto a second end of the through-bolt, thereby compressing the punchings between the tensioning nut and a thrust nut. The tensioning nut is fixed to the through-bolt so as not to be removable. The punchings are compressed by external means and then the thrust nut is tightened against the plate and peened to remain in position. Final tensioning and retensioning is provided by a plurality of set screws circumferentially placed about the thrust nut and extending parallel to the through-bolt. The set screws may be turned, cooperating against one of the compression plates to exert compressive force on the punchings. The set screws may utilize nylon inserts to prevent loosening. The utilization of the unique thrust nut with set screws allows the punchings to be retensioned after installation without requiring utilization of large tools to turn the very large thrust nut.

    摘要: A parallel conducting ring structure for a dynamoelectric machine is configured to be mounted as a subassembly upon a conventional support cone for wholesale installation through an opening formed in an axial end of the casing structure surrounding the stator core of a dynamoelectric machine. Tab connections are attached, at preselected locations about the axis of the stator core, to the parallel conducting ring structure and are insulated with conventional groundwall insulation. Depending upon the particular direction of rotation of the rotor and upon the direction in which the generated electromotive forces are to peak, each direction of which is selected by the utility, the subassembly is installed within the casing structure through the opening, and adapted for such particular directions by stripping the insulation from selected ones of the tab connections, attaching the main leads exiting the casing structure to such tab connections, and leaving the remaining ones of the tab connections insulated.
