    Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the preparation of a gel spun UHMWPE fiber comprising the steps of providing an ultra high molecular weight polyethylene composition having an intrinsic viscosity (IV) of at least 8 dl/g, a co-monomer content (CBR) of a least 0.05 SCB/1000TC, a mass averaged distribution of the co-monomer (CMAD) of at least 0.05, wherein the co-monomer has at least 4 carbon atoms, dissolving the composition in a solvent to form a polymer solution having a UHMWPE concentration of between 2 and 40 wt %, spinning the polymer solution through a multi orifice die plate to form a solution fibers, cooling the solution fiber to below 80° C. to form a gel fiber, drawing the fiber in at least one step to form a drawn fiber, removing at least a portion of the solvent before, during or after the drawing, wherein the ratio CMAD to CBR is greater than 1.0. The invention further relates to a gel-spun UHMWPE fiber obtainable by the process and products comprising said gel-spun UHMWPE fiber.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a yarn comprising a copolyamide in an amount of at least 90 wt % with respect to the total weight of the yarn, which copolyamide comprises a) at least 95 wt % by weight with respect to the total weight of copolyamide, monomeric units derived from hexamethylene diamine and adipic acid and b1) cyclic monomeric units derived from a diamine X, and cyclic monomeric units derived from a diacid Y, and/or b2) cyclic monomeric units derived from an amino acid Z, in which the summed amount of monomeric units derived from X,Y and Z is between 0.1 to 4.5 wt % by weight with respect to the total weight of the copolyamide and wherein the yarn has a tensile strength of at least 80 cN/tex as measured according to ASTM D885-04. The invention also relates to a process for preparing the yarn.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for making high-strength polylactic acid elongated object comprising the steps of making a solution of polylactic acid in a solvent at a concentration of 5 to 50 mass %; spinning the solution through a spinplate comprising at least 1 spinhole to form a fluid elongated object; cooling the fluid elongated object with a cooling medium to form a solvent-containing gel elongated object; removing at least partly the solvent from the gel elongated object to form a solid elongated object; and drawing the elongated object while applying a draw ratio of at least 2, to form a high strength PLA elongated object, characterized in that the cooling medium has a temperature Tq of less than 0° C. The present invention also relates to gel-spun elongated objects comprising PLA with an IV in the range of 4-40 dl/g, and having a tenacity in N/tex such that Ten≥0.146*IV, as well as gel-spun elongated object having a tenacity and a filament titer in tex (t) such that Ten≥1.40*t −0.3. The invention also relates to articles containing said gel-spun elongated objects.
