    Abstract: Disclosed are systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable storage media for managing email attachments in an online content management system. In some implementations, a messaging client can receive input attaching a content item to an electronic message in a message thread. In response to the input, the messaging client can store the content item in a file system managed by an online content management system, generate a link to the content item, and insert the link in the electronic message. The content item can be shared with the recipients of the electronic message such that the content item can be synchronized across recipient devices by the online content management system. The messaging client on each recipient device and/or the sender's device can present representations of the attachments associated with the message thread in a centralized location on a GUI of the messaging client.

    Abstract: A client device displays a content item in a window associated with a process on the device. A client application monitors the process for the content item and determines whether the content item is synchronized with a client device or content management system. When the content item is not synchronized, a synchronization interface is displayed to permit a user to request synchronizing the content item. When the user requests synchronization, the content item is moved to a shared folder synchronized with the content management system or client device.

    Abstract: A content management system creates and modifies user notification queues for shared content items synchronized between a content management system and multiple devices. A user notification queue includes interactions with a shared content item that may be presented to a user to indicate recent interactions with the shared content item by other sharing users.     Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable storage media for inserting content into an application from an online synchronized content management system are disclosed. The system can receive text input into an application at a client device associated with the content management system. The text input can be, for example, keystrokes performed at the client device by a user, and the application can be, for example, an email client. The system can identify, within the text input, a predefined text string, such as an escape sequence, that is followed by a partial or full string that represents an identifier. The identifier may be associated with a content item that is stored in the online synchronized content management system. The system can then insert inside the application a link that points to the content item. The system can also insert code that is designed to render the content item as a dynamically updated preview.
