Abstract: A drive system for a hybrid or electric vehicle includes an electrical energy source; an electric machine, a switching device linked to the electric machine and selectively switchable between a first configuration, and a second configuration, an adjusting device linked to the electric machine and configured to vary its operating parameters, and a control unit. The first electrical configuration includes a first number of conductors in series by phase supplying a first driving torque with a first knee speed and a first no-load operation speed. The second electrical configuration includes a second number of conductors in series by phase supplying a second driving torque, lower than the first driving torque, and a second knee speed higher than the first knee speed. A ratio between the first no-load operation speed and the second knee speed is between 0.7 and 1.3.

Abstract: Method for reconfiguring an electric machine including a rotor arranged to rotate with an angular speed (ω), the electric machine being arranged to pass from a first configuration (config1) to a second configuration (config2), the method comprising the steps of: a) determining in real-time a real speed threshold (ωreal_th) depending on the current operating condition of the electric machine; b) checking if the angular speed (ω) of the rotor is greater than said real speed threshold (ωreal_th); c) in positive case, no reconfiguration is performed from the first configuration (config1); d) in negative case: d.1) determining the current configuration of the electric machine; d.2) selecting a reconfiguring decision method; d.3) deciding whether to reconfigure the electric machine or not and, in positive case, reconfiguring the electric machine.

The phases extend between respective terminals and are divided into a plurality of distinct groups, in particular at least a first group and a second group. The switching device is coupled to the first group and is operable to switch an electrical configuration thereof. The second group of phases is instead configured to maintain its electrical configuration unchanged during the switching of the electrical configuration of the first group.

Abstract: A method for estimating the magnet temperature in an electrical machine carried out by means of an electronic computer involves estimating a value of a total magnetic flux of the electrical machine and estimating a value of a first partial flux, representing a magnetic flux due to a reluctance of the electrical machine. The method also involves the steps of calculating a value of a second partial flux as a function of a difference between said value of the total magnetic flux and said value of the first partial flux and determining a value of a magnet temperature as a function of said value of the second partial flux.

Abstract: A switching device for an electric motor provided with a plurality of phases includes a fixed body equipped with a plurality of connection portions and at least one moveable body that can be moved with respect to the fixed body between at least a first position, in which the phases are arranged in a first electrical configuration, and a second position, in which the phases are arranged in a second electrical configuration. The second electrical configuration is separate from the first one due to the connection between the phase fractions within each phase and/or due to the reciprocal connection between the phases.
