Disclosed is a star network/mesh network accessing method and apparatus of a terminal in a satellite communication system, the method including receiving time slot resources from a central station and operating in a time division multiple access (TDMA) start network communication mode between the central station and a terminal, transferring, to the central station, a TDMA mesh network connection request message for a destination terminal, receiving traffic burst time plan (TBTP) information corresponding to the TDMA mesh network connection request message from the central station and operating in a TDMA mesh network communication mode between terminals, and switching from the TDMA mesh network communication mode between the terminals to a single channel per carrier (SCPC) mesh network communication mode between the terminals when Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) traffic is greater than a threshold.
Abstract:
Provided are a satellite mesh communication system and an adaptive coding modulation (ACM) control method using the same. The ACM control method include establishing, by the central station, star and mesh connections between the terminal stations, receiving, by each terminal station, a data burst including MODCOD information for ACM control through the established mesh connection, checking, by each terminal station, a mesh connection link state in response to reception of the data burst, determining, by each terminal station, new requested MODCOD information in units of established mesh connections to transmit a data burst including the determined requested MODCOD information to a partner terminal station, and changing a previous MODCOD according to the requested MODCOD to transmit a data burst in units of mesh connections according to the changed MODCOD.
Abstract:
A control method of a satellite communication network controller is provided. The satellite communication network controller registers terminals included in a plurality of satellite communication networks. The satellite communication network controller receives first data transmitted by a first terminal from a first central station included in a first satellite communication network. The satellite communication network controller searches from the terminals, a second terminal which is a destination of the first data. The satellite communication network controller determines a second central station to receive the first data by using registered information of the second terminal. The satellite communication network controller transmits the first data to the second central station. The second central station is included in the second satellite communication network.

Provided is a satellite terminal controlling apparatus and method that may measure a packet loss rate of a return link at a central station, may determine a modulation and coding (MODCOD) value of the return link using the packet loss rate, and may control MODCOD of a satellite terminal with respect to the return link.
