Abstract: Systems, devices, and methods for embedding a diffractive element in an eyeglass lens are described. A method of embedding a diffractive element in an eyeglass lens includes applying a protective layer to a diffractive element, applying an interface layer to the protective layer, and applying a lens layer to the interface layer. The interface layer and the lens layer are each comprised of a resin material that hardens when cured. The interface layer is of a shape and thickness that adheres well to the protective layer after the interface layer is cured. The lens layer is of a shape and thickness that achieves the desired component shape of the lens after the lens layer is cured.

Abstract: A system is disclosed for correcting a world-additive display of a head mounted device (HMD). The system includes a processor of a controller of the HMD connected to the world-additive display and a memory on which are stored machine-readable instructions that when executed by the processor, cause the processor to perform a process. The process includes receiving optical data from the world-additive display, receiving background data from an optical sensor connected to the controller, deriving scene estimate data from the background data, extracting display color estimate data from the optical data, generating a correction map based on the scene estimate data and the display color estimate data, and applying the correction map to the optical data. Corresponding methods and devices are also disclosed.

Abstract: Described techniques enable thwart detection for warning lights associated with recording devices, such as cameras. A warning light may be used to alert bystanders that a recording is in progress, but an operator of a recording device may attempt to circumvent the warning light by obstructing the warning light. A lightpipe or other light guiding element may be used to guide a redirection of the warning light to a light sensor. Then, when the redirection exceeds a threshold, which may be determined based in part on a baseline level of ambient light, recording operations of the recording device may be automatically deactivated.

Abstract: A controller bypasses processing raw image data captured by an image sensor at a wearable device and selects among modes of operation, to direct the raw image data to a light engine, to a transmitter, and/or to a computer vision engine. The light engine outputs display light based on the raw image data, the transmitter transmits the raw image data external to the wearable device, and the computer vision engine analyzes the raw image data to identify at least one feature represented in the raw image data and outputs computer vision data. The modes of operation selected by the controller reduce or eliminate intensive image signal processing operations performed by the wearable device on the raw image data.
