Abstract:
A computer-implemented method for pairing multimedia devices is provided herein. The method may include operations of detecting a connection between a first-screen device and a pairing service, the first-screen device connecting to the pairing service through a local network and of generating a pairing code that is valid for a pairing session. The method may further include sending a request to a push notification server to send a push notification comprising the pairing code to a second-screen device, receiving the pairing code from the second-screen device, and associating the first-screen device and the second-screen devices as paired devices.

Abstract:
A second screen application operating on a client device presents a deduplicated listing of devices in a user interface, each listed device associated with one or more coupling protocols. A selection of a listed device is received via the user interface with which to participate in a video display session. Application status information is obtained from a control server for a first screen application of the selected device, the application status information indicating whether the first screen application is in an existing video display session with a second client device. A coupling methodology is determined based on the indicated application status and coupling protocols available to the client device and the one or more coupling protocols of the first screen application; and the client device couples to the first screen application via the determined coupling methodology.
Abstract:
Relevancy information describing a relevance of a digital content item to a user is received. The relevancy information is used to determine whether to notify the user of the digital content item. If it is determined to notify the user, it is inferred from activities of the user a time when the user is favorably disposed to consume the digital content item. A message is sent to a client
Abstract:
Systems, methods, and media for authentication are provided. In accordance with some implementations, the system comprises: a hardware processor that is programmed to: receive, from a device, a message relating to an authentication status of a user account associated with the device; transmit an authentication request to the device that is transmitted to an authentication server; receive, from the device, a response to the authentication request that includes authentication data relating to a session corresponding to the user account on the authentication server; cause an interface to be presented that requests authorization to authenticate the device with the authentication server using the user account; and transmit the authentication data to the device that causes the device to retrieve a corresponding authentication token from the authentication server, wherein the corresponding authentication token authenticates the user account on the device.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and media for facilitating user interactions while watching media content are provided. In accordance with some embodiments, the method comprises: associating a first user device with a second user device, wherein the first user device and the second user device are associated with a first user; causing, on the first user device, a media content item to be presented; receiving an indication that the media content item is being presented on a third user device associated with a second user; causing, on the first user device, a selectable indication that the media content item is being presented on the third user device to be presented; and in response to determining that the selectable indication has been selected on the first user device, causing a communication interface for exchanging messages between the second user device and the third user device to be presented on the second user device.

Abstract:
A method for computing usage metrics for a content sharing platform is disclosed. The method includes receiving usage logs of a content sharing platform, the usage logs pertaining to a plurality of events associated with content items of the content sharing platform. The method further includes, for each usage log, identifying an event associated with the usage log, parsing the usage log to identify a set of characteristics for the identified event, obtaining additional information about the identified event based on the set of characteristics, and storing the set of characteristics and the additional information as an event entry for the event. The method also includes storing metadata corresponding to the event separately from the event entry, the metadata to be provided with the event entry to a user upon a user request for information about the event.

Abstract:
Methods, systems, and media for processing queries relating to presented media content are provided. In some implementations, a method comprises: receiving a request to associate with a media playback device that is presenting media content to a user of the mobile device, wherein a mobile application executing on the mobile device and a media application executing on the media playback device exchange media playback information; activating a microphone associated with the mobile device to receive ambient sounds in response to associating with the media playback device; converting the received ambient sounds to one or more text inputs; determining whether the text inputs include a trigger term that corresponds to a request to initiate a query relating to the presented media content and the query; in response to determining that the trigger term has been included in the text inputs, determining the media playback information from the media application that includes timing information corresponding to when during the presentation of the media content the query was received and media content identification information; causing a search to be performed that includes the query, the timing information, and the media content identification information; obtaining a search result that is responsive to the query; and presenting at least a portion of the search result to the query on a mobile display associated with the mobile device.
