Abstract:
Applications that have been designed for a smaller format device such as a smartphone and simply ported to a larger format device such as a tablet can be discerned from applications designed specifically for the larger format device. An application can be evaluated based on tablet compatibility criteria and can be assigned a tablet compatibility score. The application can be evaluated based on quality criteria and can be assigned a quality score. The compatibility score and the quality score can be used to help find and rate any number of applications.
Abstract:
The disclosed implementations provide a seamless mechanism for end users to discover and try out new and/or updated applications. An application store may determine alternative applications to a frequently used first application on the client device that are similar to the first application. It may provide installation packages to the client device that installs the applications in a manner that associates the alternative applications with the first application. A notice may be generated by the client device that indicates the applications have been installed and/or that the data generated by the first application has been imported into the alternative applications. A selection of a user interface element may launch one of the alternative applications. Data generated by the first application may be displayed according to the user interface of the alternative application.
Abstract:
Images and/or videos may be recommended to a developer based on a classifier. The classifier may determine an application metric that may measure the likelihood that an application is successful for applications on an application store. The system may extract and/or determine features from images and/or videos associated with a training set of applications that are deemed successful. A classifier may be trained on the training set of applications to determine which features of the images and/or videos are associated with the application metric. The classifier may be applied to new and/or existing applications on the application store to generate a recommendation of which images the developer of the application should use to increase the likelihood that the application will be successful.

Abstract:
Systems and techniques are disclosed for receiving an application submitted to an application market and determining a global rank for the application based at least on a visibility rank and a risk rank. The visibility rank may be determined based on observed visibility, a probabilistic visibility, and/or an externality. The application may be placed in a review category based on the global rank. Additionally, an application priority category may be associated with the application based on the global rank.
