Abstract: Example implementation relates to a method for managing movement of set of entities associated with sampled data units in a cluster of nodes of a distributed storage system. A database is maintained for sampled data units received from the cluster of nodes. The method includes maintaining lineage information for the set of entities associated with the sampled data units received from each node. Based on the lineage information of a source node, a data set for migration is determined.

Abstract: Example implementations relate to identifying file system objects of a file system for generating an initial baseline of the file system. In an example, an inode table of the file system is retrieved. Modes included in the inode table correspond respectively to file system objects of the file system. Attributes, including an object identifier and a time attribute, are extracted from each of the inodes of the inode table. A compilation of the object identifiers from the extracted attributes are provided to a service that generates the initial baseline of the file system using the compilation.

Abstract: Dynamic updating of metadata associated with a file system is described herein. In accordance with an example, the updating includes creating a shadow file system metadata (FSM) index map in a shadow data block. The shadow data block is associated with a metadata storage of the file system and the metadata storage stores metadata files associated with the file system. The shadow FSM index map is associated with the metadata storage through an index map of the metadata storage, the index map being indicative of the metadata files in the metadata storage. The shadow FSM index map is updated to dynamically update the metadata associated with the file system, in the metadata storage.
